I think most of us could write stories in a better style than 50 Shades tbh. Some of the stories on here are pretty good! (I've even got my own on the go - writing filth is a pleasant way to pass the time

Good question. I was given a copy,started reading and soon realised it's not very well written but wanted to find out why the lead character was like he was. I,like some other women I have spoken to, skipped the sexual scenes and skim read to find out. Having read the first book I had to follow the story and read the second book. I will admit to it being hard going but,again I wanted to find out what happened. I picked up the third and final book,read a few pages, then threw it in a cupboard. I couldn't torture myself any longer and didn't give a monkeys what happened. I got so sick of reading about her inner bloody goddess I couldn't carry on. I will never read them a second time. In fact,I could probably write better sex scenes than her if I put my mind to it

Well unless you are already a multi-millionaire do so #I would. Its not my sort of book but I freely admit I haven't read it so can't make a full judgement but sales and popularity point towards people liking it. Hard work well we all persist with the forums and if being honest it can't be worse than some of the tales people perpetuate on here.

To the average woman who has had no experience of the world of being tied up and spanked it's obviously going to be an erotic read...to those that have had experience of the world of being tied up and spanked and have experienced thing sexually that the average suburban woman hasn't it's going to be an average read...I found it enjoyable I thought the ending was very predictable..however that book made the author very rich and it made a few babies....

I'm yet to read '50 Shades of Grey', but from all accounts, it's not that good. This is one good thing (or possibly bad) that came from these books. Women became a little more adventurous in bed. Don't know if it was short lived though and I do know some men who weren't happy with that

If that book has opened people's mind sexually and maybe even helped with people's sex life where before it was lacking then that can only be a good thing..We have to consider not everyone is so open to sex as we are on here. The book I think paved a way from women and men to consider it's ok to have kinks in the bedroom.

Personally I read all three because I'm weird and once I start a series of books I have to read them. They weren't as they promised....the bdsm took a major step back very quickly in favour of the love story. I think she was sponsored by Durex given the amount of times she said they were using one in the books lol

As cheeky has said, they opened peoples mind to different kinds of sex, maybe saved a few marriages, maybe ended a few too but they also got the nation talking about books instead of shit reality TV shows as well.

I forced myself to read half of the first book, waiting for the interesting stuff to kick in... It never did and I got extremely bored and gave it back to the person I borrowed it from.

As far as I can remember, the book could've been shortened to just a few lines, it was that repetitive:

Didn't anyone come away from the book thinking it was a bit "rapey"? Literary criticisms aside, there was a distinct lack of consent in the first book, in several scenes.

I'm reading "The Story of O". The original prototype for 50 Shades 'a Shite.

Nikki Gemmell is a better author for that kind of thing and the women in the books are actually consenting.

I might get to The Masters and Johnson biography then, and then that Topic of Cancer:Capricorn dude.

See, I found the story of O boring and quite hard to read. Everyone seems to suggest it's THE book to read for anyone considering the lifestyle yet I found it rubbish!

I actually got bored with the sex scenes and found it all a bit tame. Since it's been out I've had so many guys claiming to be Mr Grey contact me.

But if your a non swinger who's looking for a bit of excitement I'm sure it's a good way to get some judging by the millions the author has made and the sales of bondage items ann summers has made on the back of it. Personally I'd rather experience fun than read about it
