Drank too much last night and had to ring in work and thorw a sickie.

Told them my lad stayed with meall weekend and he has not been well, so taking the day off.

How many others are doing the same?

Just wish it was true and not hung over lol.

just need a nice lady to come and look after me xx

first rule of drinking on a school night is deal with the consequences and go to work no matter how shit you feel.

have a few young uns on my team who go for mid week all inclusive nights at Chicago's and they know if they dont show up the next day i will not be impressed

I was in two minds wether to go in or not, and have decided not to bother. I never work Mondays, so feel cheated by missing my bank holiday

, but I'm working in a filty old building, have about 180m of pipework to lay and about 800yds of Cat5 cable.

To be honest I can't be arsed, so it's another day off for me

He has been a bit iffy, but not this weeknd.

Its half trm as well I have just found out, so feel a bit bad about ringing in work, oh well, slap on the wrist tomorrow me thinks.

I hope my boss doesn't come on here, if he does, p45 tomorrow lol xx

Isn't it better to ring in and take an extra day holiday rather than cheat the system? I know we all have a few too many at times but it hardly seems fair to your bosses

Wrong, sooo wrong.

For a time I was unemployed, hated it, and when I saw/heard comments like this, it really peed me off, that people lucky enough to be in work in recent months, years even would disrespect like that.

I realise my opinion is formed by wanting/needing work, and thinking to myself I would never do that, it does seem shitty that I was willing, nearly desperate to work and people find it ok to drink too much and prove not to be able to handle their drink by needing time off work, though has to be said, it can't be that bad if you're on the net.

Not meaning to offend, but think yourself lucky to have a job, there are a lot out there would love to take your job, and take it all seriously.

Oh i have thrown a sickie or two in my working life for all kinds of reasons. Didnt do when son younger as i didnt have the money to get bladdered. lmao

Agreed - I was on a course last month at a hotel, and you don't need me to tell you that means a late night at the bar

Every one of us made it in on time the following morning in a state capable of doing our gig.

Sickies are for lightweights!

However bad I feel, for whatever reason other than being very contageous, I have to be at work, and on time ! On average 15-25 people would be VERY unimpressed with me if I "threw a sickie" out of the blue. In my opinion it shows a rather unprofessional attitude.

I am lucky i set my own schedule so can pretty much work when i choose. But i wouldn't throw a sickie as it sets a bad example and it would be hard to say things to anyone else about being absent.

I empathise with hangovers- believe me I do lol.

Having said that I simply would not/ could not throw a sickie as I would feel so bad about letting my team down.

I also think the people who work for me would not do it to me either.

Having said that ... I would not be judgemental - and also if you are really hungover you are probably safer at home than on the road or at work. - Hope your hangover gets better soon

I know it's easy to sound 'holier than thou', but my personal opinion is that that sort of attitude and action shows immaturity and irresponsibility.

And if your son is aware of your actions, then should we be surprised at the actions of some of today's kids when that's the sort of example set by their parent(s)?

I'm sorry if you don't like my opinion, but this is an open forum where people are supposed to be able to express what they think and feel!
