Chances are the battery needs changing its a little separate one from the main battery

This does not apply to all models thou xx

you might also have it set to the wrong time zone, and when it auto up dates as they do, it set's itself to that particular time zone, only a thought

Laptops (esp. Dell for some reason!) can go a bit funny time-wise especially if they spend long periods not online (e.g. in a bag in the boot of your car).

Make sure you have Internet Time set (usually via a right-click on the clock in your bottom right corner) - this will set it to automatically sync with various online clocks at regular intervals...

the little battery you refer to is there to keep the bios in the computer as well as the time clock running, so be very careful when changing this, and make sure both you and the computer is earthed or static electric could destroy some chips in the system

Yep, the common solution to this problem is the BIOS battery, it's one of those flat, round, silver types.
