They say football is a physical sport,tough, a man`s game ..

But let me explain my problem with this ;

Why then do these `men`,adored by millions the world over,fall over as easily as a house built of cards at the merest hint of a tackle ,rolling and writhing around `Ronaldo-esq` and thus trying to cheat the ref,and the fans, of a game that should be sportsmanlike and played with integrity..

Not very manly... If Bryan Robson tackled you you wouldnt be rolling and writhing around much as itd take you 2 mins to get your breathe back.

No.A far more manly game would be women`s hockey, or maybe larcrosse..

The non joke bit is , there should be a 4th official who can call down to the ref to advise what the cameras are seeing,and that Cheats should get 10 mins in the sin bin like they do in ice hockey..

Cheats SHOULDNT PROSPER...

and real men shouldnt roll around like sissys ...

I'm sorry but flopping/diving is just as popular in ice hockey, rugby and basketball as it is in football.

Hundreds if videos on YouTube that prove it.

But let's just take the small minority of divers and making sweeping statements that ALL footballers aren't manly.

They might be "banned" from playing it, but I was in a bar on Thursday in Mykonos when the world cup game was on and there were a lot of gay blokes absolutely loving watching it. I don't think they cared about the game though, just the sight of those preening manicured footballers strutting about on the pitch was enough to make them very, er, happy.

What constitutes a man at the end of the day ? It's the individual not the game that ruins thing's.

Beside this old poppy cock argument about what's a man's game is a little jaded. ..what about sky diving, offshore sailing, free diving, adventure racing etc etc...All have their challenges and all sports have qualities.just enjoy what you do and appreciate others may have different tastes...or why not smile at the theatrics of it all instead of getting angry.

Minority my arse. Professional footballers are taught to dive and decieve. Commentators defend them, referees turn a blind eye under the guise of "contact was made" so that makes it ok to flop to the ground like a fucking dickhead and demand that the player gets sent off. It is cheating, deception and lacks integrity. Rugby has it's problems yes but the people who play that at least respect each other before during and after the game.

Football is the only sport other than cricket (where it is in the rules that a player should appeal to the umpire) where you see hordes of players bombarding the referee and demanding things. It is unedifying and pathetic.

I love football, but the cheating makes me question that sometimes.

just want to clear up the fact that homosexuals are not banned from playing football, there are many that play at all levels, and yes it used to be a mans game, when tackles were a part of the game, but its changed so much to the fact its almost a non contact sport these days, and diving is creeping into a majority rather than a minority, it could be stamped out but they would need to be willing to put there foot down and upset the overpaid prima donnas.

The football players cheat constantly and fifa and governing bodies do nothing about it. Luis suarez has gone on record to say he would cheat again to put England out of the world cup. He did it against Ghana last world cup. Maradona did against England. " the beautiful game" is riddled with divers and cheats right from grass roots. People dive make out they have the worst injury ever then run 50 yards to score. It's making a good game harder and harder to watch. But while all the officials and all teams carry on doing itthe problem is only going to get worse .

Football is love all over the world and can unite people more than any sport can.

It wasn't cricket or hockey being played between warring soldiers in World War 1 and I don't think you'd see scenes like the USA and Iran a few World Cups back in any other sporting environment.

Football is good for the soul.

Football is a game that units the whole world and you're looked upon for your skill not because where you're from and not what your background and family status is its a a sport where the richest and poorest can play on the same field under the same rules as for diving and cheating that's a human characteristic people will do anything to win some of the biggest names In other sports have tried or have cheated eg...red bull in f1 Tyson in boxing the list goes on as for rugby it is manly but it's a puppy compared to American football

I remember channel hopping a little while ago, and came across a match I believe was from 1985 (I can't remember the teams). Many of the players had long, scruffy looking hair, their kits looked sweaty, the pitch had huge patches where the grass had all worn away and was just mud, and naturally that mud was all over the players shins and knees - needless to say, back then football looked like a much more rugged, manly game.

A handful of players from the history of football might also be hard men. Football is not as manly as I wish considering footballers are what a lot of boys look up to. Cheating on the pitch, cheating on their wives, lying when they're caught, prancing and preening the rest of the time.
