"I've never liked the idea of voice activation. What ever happened to getting of your arse and pressing the on/off button? " if you call pressing the button on your controller that was most likely already within reaching distance getting off your arse then don't you think voice activation was the next logical step?

No not really, i've been into games consoles since the 1980's. Got an xbox 360 now but still not upgraded to the new xbox machine. It never did me any harm getting up off the sofa to switch my old Super Nes or Megadrive on/off with the press of a button on the console machine. No wonder kids are becoming more obese these days. Things like voice activation just promote laziness.

So what you're saying is that this generation is slightly more lazy than ours because before they spend hours in front of the games machine, they don't get off their arses to hit a switch? " Yes exactly what i said, it promotes laziness. Laziness can then easily feed into other areas of peoples lives. Saw on the news the other day that a doctor told an obese kid to use his Nintendo wii more or exercise, WTF. ![]()

"A change of lifestyle to a more sedentary one in general has many causes. The very least of which is being able to say "Xbox on" and have it turn on. " May seem that way at 1st glance but If you looked at it over the course of a year, how many times you would get up and down off the sofa to switch the console on/off instead of using voice activation you would work off quite a few McDonalds, KFC's or bags of chips,.....as Tesco keep telling us "Every little helps". ![]()

And these days with Kinect some kids are more likely to play some of the active games too, which burn a few more calories than just sitting there. Hence the original Wii becoming so popular with families and outselling PS and Xbox. I think if you're looking for reasons for fat kids, its not the video games.
