how fast can pigeons fly??

driving along at 55 mph and there was this pigeon passing me, flying in a straight line and gradually getting higher, fook me, didn't think they were that quick

Yes. It's called a "squab" and derived from the wild species know as the Rock Dove. Found around the coast of this country esp near cliffs.
