and I am needing some serious mental stimulation.

I am going bloody crazy looking, reading and browsing the same old web stuff.

I have watched all the movies I have and obviously too ill to go out.

Anyone have ANY ideas - feel like I am going insane!

much love

You have my deepest sympathy, I have been off for about 2 months and ma Dr has just signed me off for a further 2 months.

It gets a tad more than frustrating when you have nothing left to do other than hobble to the shop occasionally

can you have a browse round youtube and see if there are any language tuition videos you fancy? Could you research something you've always been interested in such as the archaeology of an area or the history of somewhere...that sort of thing? Teach yourself taxidermy...hours of entertainment from roadkill and formaldehyde

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I had my big, unable to do anything, off work illness twenty two years ago. No internet, not much television and reading was too active.

I got through once I accepted it and started meditating.

If your brain is working you could try learning a new language or tracing your family tree.

I was off work for six months once and I became excellent at Sudoku I was taking too many painkillers for my brain to function enough to do anything other than a very logical, methodical activity.

Titz Towers, North Notts

Start reading some books. Learn some Latin.

A friend of mine who was on strike during the 70's was that bored he had the Mormons in for tea and spent a lot of time arguing with them. It filled some of his time nicely. However, when he went back to work they still kept visiting and he had a big job getting shot of them.

Do you own, or can you borrow a kindle? There are hundreds of free books available and plenty at 99p (plus the daily deals).

I'm into month 18 of being off sick, someone told me today that I'm very patient! I never have been a patient person but an awful lot of time spent in hospital waiting rooms has taught to to stop stressing about it.

I recently learnt to crochet, it keeps my hands and mind occupied, I can put it down and pick it up again, it's constructive and I can concentrate on it when I can't concentrate to read a book.

Look for something to do/make. Something where you have a finished item at the end of it - cross stitch, model aircraft making, furniture for dolls houses, cards, knitting, rag rugs, quilting - there are lots of options. Just pick something that won't take over your house and that the finished item will be appreciated by you or someone you care about.

TD's post reminded me that I used to colour in a lot. I loved a colouring in book as I could do that and not have to concentrate too hard.

I was just about to suggest taking up knitting!
