Hi everyone.

I'm sure someone will have an answer for me. The problem is the pages on this site and on others too, relating to text colours.

For example, some text on here is very light grey on a white background and I am having difficulty reading it at times. It is OK when text is Black on a white background.

Now, I know I turned 59 years old a few weeks back, but I'm not going blind (yet!) - mind you, perving away on here might change that sooner than I think!

But is there any way to change the text colouring, or maybe the background colour, so that text stands out and is more easily visible to read?

Please keep answers in plain simple English.

Thanks.

Try adjusting the screen brightness or contrast in the screen settings

That might be able to help

Press

Ctrl and the + symbol.

This will increase the screen type.

Keep your finger on Ctrl and press + once, twice, three, four five times or whatever, and the screen will increase making it easier to read.

Press

Ctrl and the - key, to zoom back to the smaller typeface.

(Ctrl is in the bottom left. The + and - keys are over next to the numbers on the right usually)

I think the blind institute have produced help pages on their site, explaining how to change font and page settings for people with difficulty viewing. I showed it and some similar stuff a while ago to someone that I help care for. A web search should find it and Im sorry I cant remember all the technical details. Fab generally, I think, has its pages as black text on white, so Im not sure what is happening if youre seeing other colours here. Most sites have an accessibility section, that covers visual aspects, amongst other things, for those who find some issues. Good luck!

Thanks folks.

On my PC some of the text on some pages on here is in light grey, though most of it is Black on White.

Quoted text is in grey rather than black. your monitor contrast and brightness are the key to improving legibility.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

Check the Accessibility settings on the computer. There might be an option that will help.

Another way is to highlight text (ie select as it you were going to copy it) which will invert it and may make it more readable.

It is pretty handy if something is just a little too small to read.

Use the left and right cursors if you increase the page a maximum. This will allow you to read across the page but you will have to navigate the screen (with left and right cursors).

The up and down buttons, obviously move the page up and down instead of using the mouse.

Takes a little while to get used to but handy when needed
