Do you misconstrue words and take them out of context depending upon your mood? How does environmental input affect your interpretation of this complicated language called English?

Written English yes, the nuance of the spoken word, lost. Hence the inadvisability of communicating sensitive life changing information other than in person. Hence will I fellate you, shoot you and then go! Or am I a vegetarian? If spoken work, with facial expressions, physical gestures, body language the sooooo much less open to misinterpretation

Not generally, but I often find that people don't necessarily use the language correctly in the first place. Obviously leaving the reader with the job of translation.

I'm very good at reading - have to be in my job.

However, I do have a nasty habit of skim reading for speed and can sometimes miss an important phrase which can lead to misunderstandings.

Your opinion of the subject is a filter.

In fact there are so many filters a message needs to get through before you have your final interpretation, it's sometimes amazing there is any of the original massage left.

But then again...... some messages are not worth filtering in the first place.

What if you genuinely use language like that on a daily basis? Why should people have to change how they write or speak? As long as they are not being rude, then there is no call to ask them to change.
