We are going to Lichfield for a long weekend and our main reason for going is to visit the T.N.A, however while down there we are stopping in Lichfield and looking for advice where to go at night's ie what's the local pub scene like, any advice would be appreciated

Thank you

For daytime visit Lichfield Cathedral, also the town centre is very nice to walk around, a few good shops, there is Beacon Park and also the Lichfield garrick theatre if you're into that sort of thing?

For night time, a few pubs around the town centre and the bowling green pub is ok a short 5 min walk from town centre, also try the hedgehog pub 5 min drive from town centre.

Take your tissues. It's pretty intense there. You should be able to lay a wooden cross if you know someone who's died in conflict.

Central

It is a great little city, with some good swinging options just a short drive away. It is quiet, nightlife is busier at weekends, and Bird Street has some good bars. The theatre has a varied mix of productions, not all plays though. The arts festival is good too, but it is In July. Nearby is Burton, where there is a brewing museum, as has been a brewing centre for centuries. Chams is about half an hour, or you have Walsall and other west midlands clubs. In the other direction, the east midlands has some clubs fairly close too. Just take it easy there, it is not a fast paced place, and it is largely off the tourist trail. The cathedral is quieter now, as Steven Sutton laid in rest a couple of weeks ago, and thousands descended to visit and mourn. The peak district is about 40 mins drive, if you would like greater remoteness. Otherwise Cannock chase is 15 to 20 mins drive, for al fresco pursuits. Have a good time there!

Yes I do have friends that lost their lives during my time in the forces, our visit is not just about those, but for all those who have lost their lives.
