As you reach a "more mature age", there are more things in your life that have made your blood boil, kettled your swede, or even want to become wrist slasher of the year.

How long does it take before someone gets ya goat

Being treated badly by men, either in relationships or play partners, fucks me off badly. It's happened twice and it took me years to get over it in each case.

The Council and a housing association in Hampshire, and the Council have made me borderline homicidal. I'm not quite over that yet. I'm definitely holding a grudge.

NPower have hacked me off but that's ongoing so I'm not over it yet.

My ex-boyfriend. I'm still holding a grudge there too.

Me too after 8 years. The most manipulative man I have ever known. Such a charmer that says all yhe right things but you don't realise until you are living your life the way he wants you to. So slow and tactfully you just don't notice. Then one day you wake up and think......

If someone you were in love with suddenly did a runner months after putting her name on the deeds to the house that your dad built and left to you. This was your only inheritance in life and you know she had both grandparents as well as parents with homes worth over 300k.

I sold my bungalow for 170k and ended up with less than 60k

I'm very patient in some respects but at other times I can go from zero to incandescent in fractions of a second. I don't hold grudges but if the behaviour persists and I can't influence it, I can be serously grumpy about it if I am unable to just cut the person out of my life. There is the odd person in my life for whom I've accumulated a lot of grey stamps

I get embarrassed thinking how intolerant and indeed unforgiving the young Miss McGinty was. Everything was a huge drama and grudges would linger on and on for ages. Age has definitely mellowed me..and I no longer sweat the little things and try to take a more balanced view of the biggies. I don't see forgiveness as a weakness but rather a strength in this often cruel world. I can now see how deeply unhappy I used to make myself by focussing on the negative things. I may not be any wiser but im more aware...and indeed more contented....

The only person that tends to wind me up, is my eldest lad... I should let him make his own mistakes.. But he just keeps making the same ones over and over and I have to pick up the pieces. I absolutely, tore him to shreds last night. I feel awful now. He'd come home after a twelve hour shift, and was soaked to the skin... But I'm still livid. Arghhhh I'm normally so laid back. "The big issues in life I have always coped with very well, love, sex, death, kids, unemployment etc. But get me on the subjects of homeopathy, faith healing, spiritualists, negative energy and all that shit and I turn apoplectic."

Terry Pratchett in one of his books had an experienced witch with a younger witch doing a surgery, the advice given to a back pain sufferer was something like:-

cut down the old chestnut tree on the corner of my garden, take a saw and cut a plank from the centre of the trunk, place that plank under your mattress and your back pain will be cured in a few weeks.

After the patient had left the novice said "why did you advise that? surely any old door under the mattress would work equally well".

The explanation is wisdom trumps knowledge, the chestnut tree needs to be felled before it falls onto the witches garden, and the man will believe it is magic so will put up with the hard bed for the few days it takes to get used to it, then the board under the bed will fix the back.

So next time you feel apoplectic take a breath and look to see if the person is cured and maybe they did some more good in a hidden angle.

The truth would not achieve anything in some circumstances. Placebo's work, it's a proven fact, but only if the person taking it doesn't know it's a placebo.

But the point of new age medicine is that the practioners believe the bollocks they spout. They tell their 'patients' not to give up the conventional treatment (that hasnt yet worked), then claim that there 0.000001 Molar solution of daffodil pollen has cured them. If they were so convinced of the power of their crystals, chakras and deities then they could test their treatments properly. I would rather a sick person recieved a placebo from a doctor who can at least moniter their health, than Gillian McKieth telling them to eat twigs and not to worry about the hair and nail loss, its just their body detoxing and ridding itself of negative energy. These fuckwits are dangerous.

I like this, people stay on my shit list forever too.

Particularly those flighty, emotional people who take things out on you when others piss them off.

Fake people - the ones who tell you one thing and then do a complete u-turn when things don't suit them. Double standards.
