a Primark shoebox in Leicester

I am thinking of buying a new pet - something easy to keep like a mouse. But I am stuck on knowing what sort I should get and what I will need to look after it.

How do I choose the right sort of mouse?

Just leave some cheese out, that way the right mouse will come to you...although he might bring the family too

Get a chipmunk, I had one, much more entertaining than a mouse!

I have a cordless one. Just have to feed it fresh batteries every few weeks.

You want a plastic one. You can take it into the bath with you. And stick things onto when you get bored of it's look. Like diamanté eyes and licorice whiskers. If you poke a hole in it you can use it like a water pistol too

Central

Go a little bigger and have a pet rat. Choose one the colour of a wild scary type. Just needs a cage, feeding and some petting. More intelligent than many pets. Scare away unwelcome meets and visitors by getting him out, and talking of the infestation. Or just have a goldfish, hours of pleasure watching swim action in a bowl, beats staring at a microwave oven or washing machine.

Sea lice, in a pot of water.

OP, get an infra-red one and then you can get amusement from the light.

I've got a nice mouse matt you can have for a fiver, looks good on your computer desk and will be comfortable for your new pet to sleep on.

A domestic male rat...

As intelligent as a cat, can be trained to pee/poo at a certain place in the cage, respond to its name helpful if you want to give him some freedom.

Easy to keep and friendly.

They live for 2/3 years if you don't want a long commitment. Get it as young as you can to potty train lol

P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

How about a worm. You have to tickle them in the middle to see which end laughs so you can tell its head from its tail though. Hours of endless fun

I always recommend the 5 button laser mouse, but it's got to fit your hand comfortably

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I suggest one of those fish tank DVDs they sell to entertain pets.

Play it when you want pet time and put it away when you don't. No feeding required and no tank cleaning and filters and plants and stuff needed.

No they're dangerous. I had one that kept freezing,in a fit of temper I bit it (not sure why) and the thumb ball thingy popped out and I choked on it.

How about a corn snake? Once you've paid out for the vivarium set-up they're cheap to feed. I've got 3.

Those things are evil. My dad left one on the fireplace for over 2 years and it still looked edible!!

Hampshire / Herefordshire

How about a man? If you play with them twice a week they will love you forever. Can be a bit messy but usually safe to keep in a shed most of the time.

It sounds more like it's you that's dangerous, not the mouse!

It probably would have been. Honey and sugar don't go off as such. Since sugar mice are almost pure sugar (plus a few additives) they probably last more or less indefinitely.

Female mice are much nicer than the male ones, the male ones stink and pee everywhere, the female ones are really friendly and when they are in heat they love being patted on the back and butt. No joke but ..I say get a rat much bigger and you can't lose them.
