The land of grey peas and bacon

Titz Towers, North Notts

I watched The Sopranos last year and was struck by just how small scale a lot of their activity was. It wasn't quite the Don Corleone stuff I was expecting.

The truth is many will be involved in all sorts of criminality, violence and aren't exactly the sort of people who have integrity or decent moral compasses.

They were only mafia of New Jersey which is relatively small. It is fairly accurate as it was based around the mafia in NJ, the DeCavalante family.

I remember reading articles about the 'real' Tony Soprano at the time and his house was very ordinary and nothing glamourous - organised crime isn't what it used to be.

In case you fancy having a look:

Have a mooch at Mob Wives. Follows the wives of 'mobsters' in Staten Island. Interesting looking at that lifestyle from the other perspective.

IMHO you can't beat the Godfather trilogy.

And it's the men that do it.

I find the lifestyle interesting and somewhat dangerous does not mean I condone what they do...like I said it's the bad boy syndrome one which I don't suffer from...

The link The Libertine put up to the real life inspiration for the Soprano's - the New Jersey mob is interesting. Everyone seems to come to a bad end. As a career path, it doesn't have a lot to recommend it.
