Holiday Reading Dilema

I am trying to find a holiday book to put on the e-reader the Mrs has dumped in my lap after she has had enough of it and gone back to the paper kind.

Can anyone recommend a decent Murder Mystery Thriller or Legal Mystery to read whiling away the hours on the sun lounger in a few weeks?

I have looked on the website and the choice is just mind boggling. I like the Patricia Cornwell, Kay Scarpetta and Lee Child, Jack Reacher series of books but am up to date on those so anything in that genre would be great.

Don't know how I am going to get along reading from this e-reader.

Go and search Free Thrillers or Mystery on the bookstore

There are some great collections/ box sets which can have some really good reads in them

Robert Crais has a good series and also David Baldacci is good, so you could stock up on a few

I read obsessively (sp?) and usually murder mystery suspence crime thriller books, i read several a week (i dont sleep well so do lots of reading at night as well as any other spare moment in the day)

Some books i have enjoyed which are a bit different are by CJ Box.

Google them or look on Amazon and see what you think, best to do them in the correct order although they are ok ish as a stand alone book too.

Titz Towers, North Notts

Just get a Jeeves and Wooster story from the immortal P.G Wodehouse. It doesn't match your criteria in the slightest, obviously, but you'll still thank me after your holiday

If you like Michael Connolly, try Iain Rankins Rebus stories, set in Edinburgh.

Or mark Billingham, murder stories set in London

The names you have mentioned are probably good holiday reads (not too heavy going), but if you like legal thrillers how about Grisham's 'Runaway Jury'? Another good read is 'Kane and Abel'by Jeffrey Archer. And reads to have you wetting your pants with laughter would be 'Law and disorder: confessions of a pupil barrister' by Tim Kevan or R. Doyles' 'The Van'. Enjoy your holidays!

I really like Grisham's earlier stuff but he went off the boil a bit for my liking and as for Lord Archer I couldn't bring myself to ever consider buying one of his books however good they may be. As for the others I'll look into them as I do like good laughter generating books.

Love my kindle for travelling, best part is the ability to carry several books with me when away, and still be able to get new ones from anywhere in the world.

Nice long holiday book is Empire of avarice by Tony Roberts, read it over a weeks trip to Italy earlier this year. Sort of medieval adventure but with a few assassinations, bit of who done it and some satire thrown on for good measure.

I love my murder mysteries & my favourite author is Stephen Booth. His books are all based round the Derbyshire/Cheshire peak district. Once I start reading them I don't want to put them down. Another is Tess Gerritson. If you like Patricia Cornwell you'll love her books

Enjoy the books & hol

xx

It was more of a decent book recommendation that I was after.

David Baldacci is a great author. Mostly thrillers, conspiracy theories, murder etc

If that's the type of genre you like then I think you'd enjoy his books

If you want something a bit less well known try The Candleman by Alex Scarrow. It's a kind of Victorian era murder thriller. Well worth a read.
