The definition of sexual swinging is ""often changing sexual partners: frequently changing or exchanging sexual partners""

I was just wondering, how many people actually live up to this or are most ""just chatting""

Not at all I'm just curious, I joined to swing and assumed that's what most other people joined to do so as well...

I'm not going to meet anyone because I'm on a swinging site so have to have sex with multiple partners.

The thing is, the internet is a means of communication. People are going to use it to communicate with each other. This website suggests ways in which they may do that and has a distinct theme, but ultimately, people will communicate as they choose.

This site is not "swinging" just a means to arrange it should people choose.

Sometimes it means different things to individuals at different times.

There isn't really a "wrong". It's down to perspective and personal opinion.

A dictionary definition perhaps. There will be others. Some will say it means wife-swapping and is an activity for couples.

The dictionary I just checked said:

Exciting and fashionable e.g. It's a nostalgia trip back into the youth culture of the swinging 60s.

Also single but I use this site to get to know people with the prospect of meeting men, should we click, for sex so no not swinging technically. Couples, yes I see that as I am their swinging partner although again not technically swinging myself. If I meet a guy either as a regular play partner or if it went further I would then want us to meet other couples etc so yes I'm a swinger in the real sense then. I love watching someone I'm with have sex with someone else.

We've been swinging now for about 15 years.

And over this period of time we have held and travelled to hundreds of party's.

In all our experience we have never once seen car keys thrown into the middle or any bowl so to speak.

Think it's just a 60s myth

I think swinging is basically swinging away and then back to a partner. However anyone who enjoys group sex is engaging in the swinging lifestyle but if single isn't swinging. Having sex with multiple partners on an individual basis is probably just casual sex. Fab seems to cater for all of that and anything you think I've missed.

For me the chatting, getting to know people and having a good laugh on the forum with those who I have some shared interests and values is the main reason I use this site. Meeting someone for sex at the moment is a rare and spectacular event

It does indeed depend on the dictionary you consult. I think I looked at the Cambridge dictionary which does include alternative definitions including the one to which you referred.

We all know that our language is an evolving thing and that meanings change over time according to their usage.

The "swinging" term is evolving but it does unfortunately mean that at present everyone has their own particular definition of it. When applied to sexual encounters, many believe it is only a term that can be applied to couples.

But does it matter? Presumably, as far as being a member here is concerned, we have one thing in common. We like sex in one form or another and are not defined by "conventional" relationships alone. Perhaps that should be enough rather than debates about what the term means.
