Newcastle and Gateshead

so just went to lunch with friends on my day off....

end up going to an "all you can eat" buffet style place....

why is it, especially in us men, that we see "all you can eat" as some sort of challenge to the manhood.....

so you could imagine what it was like with a few of us "manly men" there.....

just wobbled home.... jeans have been loosened... not moving off the sofa!!!!

is it just me? are my group of friends? do women do it as well????

I used to do it, would see it as a personal failure if I didn't try every dish on the menu.

Now I go for quality over quantity. If I like it, I eat it over another dish that doesn't look so good.

However, we did go to a local restaurant that does 'Man V Food' challenges the other week. I didn't move from the sofa for 2 days after, and I didn't eat it all!

Can't beat jimmyz world buffet all you can eat Chinese, Indian, Thai and Italian. Plus a roast on Sundays. Only one rule, you must use a clean plate every time.

Strangely off to one later. Using it as a way to get daughter to try lots of different stuff while she is here on summer break.

Much easier than cooking lots of different samplers

They have a ridiculous selection.

"Never done an all you can eat "

Me neither bit OCD when it comes to food/hygiene, though i know some of the top restaurants have been cautioned for hygiene standards i just think all you can eat must be cutting corners somewhere.

"i just think all you can eat must be cutting corners somewhere."

I know what you mean but you can't really be certain about anything! I imagine it works as a model because its more efficient and economical than cooking X amount of different/separate dishes.

Not for a long time......I have one of those unruly bodies that just fattens up if I read a menu for long enough never mind eat my way through one. I had a KFC last night with a mate for the first time in 9 months and am still feeling bad about it

I love food, took me a long time to get the figure I have

Almost never go to all you can eat but often remarked at foolish greed when observing people who pile their plate sky high at a carvery . Just because you can does not mean you should

There is a magic word to my knowledge a minority of people even know and even fewer seem to understand repleat!

Always been the same with my mates - I'm a crap eater compared to them, some really see it as a challenge, same whenever there's hot food involved - always try to get the hottest they can!

Seen a few ladies in late night eateries tucking almost banquet sized meals away too!

Honestly, I try and stay away from buffets.

My eyes are always too big for my stomach. And I end up just piling food up on my plates. Portion size, be damned.

Yes you can, there are plenty of places who can deliver a plate full of wholesome food.

There is a good steak house in Derby that gives value for money and will leave you wanting for nothing
