if they are just doing their job, it's cool as many people are labelled jobsworths because they are dishing out the penalties as per their role and law infringement.

if taking it to the nth degree, they need to calm down

One of my best mates is extremely pedantic. When we used to work together he once made a fuss because I'd labelled a job up in centimetres rather than millimetres. I quite cheerfully told him to try telling this to the Marines, as they may be interested, but I wasn't

The contractors used to hate dealing with him, as he was completely by the book, never bending an inch from how things should be done. He did have less in the way of fuck ups than everyone else, though.

It rather depends on the job...

When I am at work I am a total jobs-worth and so are all collogues. However I am an industrial abseiler and my life literally hangs on the line so I have good reason to be picky.

Mind you, when I worked at Toyota, one of the chaps designed some new racking with the diagram showing a scale of 5cm to the foot...
