If you agree to it beforehand and they are happy to do so. I would not verify someone after a 'negative' encounter even if they said nice things about me

I always ask if someone would like a verification and I've verified folk I've met socially but not gone on to play with because the spark wasn't there. Always happy to receive a veri in return but I don't lose any sleep if I don't get one back

It's a minor irritation when people don't verify us but not anything we lose any sleep over.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

If someone offers to verify, displays yours, then does not return the courtesy even though it was a good meet, that is rude. But it happens.

That's exactly what I thought

I always ask beforehand before posting and usually get the reply that they'll return the favour.

I would always try to find something pleasant to say, at least erring on the side of diplomacy. I think its polite to offer a vei. The recipient doesnt have to publish it if they disagree.
