Do you find that people define you by just one part of you? I'm often defined by my body type, but I'm not just a 'big girl' I'm also a book lover and im often too bitchy for my own good. I'm just a normal girl. Does anyone else feel this way or am I being a bit idiotic?

It depends on who is doing the defining. On here, people may perceive me to be a hat wearing, biscuit eating buffoon who posts random shit on a daily basis.

At work, others may see me as a level headed, problem solving, organised, hard working guy.

At home, I'm a guy who likes to do a bit of cooking, blast some tunes out & chill.

Down the pub, well that depends on how many beers I have had

They are all right in one way or another so I guess I am normal as well

All are parts of who you are (im assuming) you're not just one person. I suppose everyone has different identities as such depending on who they are with

I am one person, just as much as anyone else. Different people see me in different situations and form an opinion of me based on what they see or hear me doing at any given time.

If you saw me at 10 o'clock every Sunday morning, you'd think I was a right wanker

Neither of you are normal, I am normal everybody else is weird except Wyrd she is.. well Wyrd. and I don't wear a hat except when I have to.

In answer to the original question apart from spurious claims to be normal, on here you are your photo and description until you get on the forums then aspects of other parts of you leak out from time to time.

I would suggest that the whole point of this site is to be superficial and physical. Most people on here are here for one thing only. That said, who are you favourite authors?

Have you read the original James Herbert books? He used to live near Camberley so many of the early books are based around here (which gives the stories an extra something!!)

It is tough summing someone up in the simplest terms. People wont appreciate your love, unless you love them, so most will just share more basic aspects of us. Many are less sure about who they themselves are, and I think this makes it tougher for them to 'get' others too. Just because someone else shrinkwraps you doesnt mean you are any less deep or complex, merely that it is a hard job appreciating the complexity of others.

Who am I? An eternal question. For sure, I am not what I do. I have many aspects to my personality but I am not simply all of them. I am not just an isolated being but also in relationship to all around me but I am not that either. I am my own creator and yet I am created by others...

Fucking deep question. ..fucked if I know

This site encourages the objectification of people into a set of physical characteristics.

Sorry, I'm in bit of a blunt mood this morning.

I believe that often how people see themselves and how they feel about themselves colours how they think others perceive them.

No I'm not. The site is a collective of shared thoughts, opinions and behaviours, distilled into a general perception.

The individual still exists in each of us, how we use the site is up to us, but those who march to the beat of a different drummer will always have to work harder than the rest.

Some may categorise me according to one aspect of who I am. Ultimately it doesn't change anything. I'm still the same person. Anyone who pigeonholes me doesn't know me well.

Why care about the opinion of anyone who doesn't know me?

Very interesting thread x

I know some people define themselves by who they told they are at a young age

Quick simplified example .

Lucy age 2 sees a spider and reacts

The next 10 years Lucy mum

Aw our Lucy is scared of spiders

Lucy aged 19

Hi Lucy tell us something about yourself

Hi I'm Lucy and I'm scared of spiders

It's more complex than that but having met a fair few teenagers it's amazing how they continue a needless negative self belief and soon it becomes part of their self

I almost did it with dyslexia many have a single poor performance episode aged young and then project it as a permanent cant that becomes a fit er reality character trait
