"Reading the Guardian online today and found out that the acronym "LOL" celebrates it's 25th birthday today. " As is often the case the Grudian is wrong again First documented computer use of LOL was early to Mid 80's by a bloke called Wayne Peterson, so it's past it's mid 20's by now! BUT before that it has been used in English since the 60's to mean little old lady, in Dutch it's the word Fun, and in Welsh it's the word nonsense. Amazing what Google knows isn't it... how come journalists haven't heard of Google? | |||
