Yep. Fantastic film. I enjoyed it more than the stage show.

I haven't watched Les Miserables yet either, as it happens.

I've got it here waiting for me to be in the right mood.

It was out the end of 2012 start of 2013 - that's not that late x

Hardly a surprise when she won an academy award for the role.

I thought id be put off by all the French Revolution stuff (not really a history fan)

But the story was beautiful and i cried loads.. caught me off guard. I knew the songs 'on my own', 'bring him home', 'do you hear the people sing' and 'i dreamed a dream' but to watch them in the right context put a whole new perspective on them..

also that recent man group Callabro from BGT sang 'stars' which is from Les Mis

I've also got Goodfellas, Cool Hand Luke, Prometheus, Life of Pi, Taken and Toy Story 3 to watch.

That's probably more than 3 or 4 months worth of films for me!

I watched Dead Poets' Society a couple of months ago. And Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt.1 recently. And The Wolverine between the two.

More than 2 films a month is going some for me.

My normal film choice is dictated by my daughter.. but im not majorly into films its only because i have them available that i am showing interest.

Toy Story 3 was a tear jerker for me.. (i dont cry at every film i watch btw lol)

Les Mis is superb and Im not into that kind of film/musicals.

For eg, last night I watched Bronson and that was brilliant

What is superb about Les Mis ?

I haven't seen it and I chose not to having been bored to death by the story and opera/popular musical stage version of ....

I've never seen the appeal.

It appealed to me as i enjoy musical theatre and so it fitted that brief..

thought the storyline was beautiful, and the acting was amazing, the sets and CGI were brill too

Guess its either gonna appeal or not.

I wasn't a fan of the stage show particularly. However the film worked far more coherently, with some excellent casting, that stirred the emotions rather than leaving me feeling flat.

I kinda, sorta, almost wept a tad when I saw Les Mis too..

I went into cinema thinking I'd absolutely hate it... I've seen Chicago and the Producers before and disliked them both....

I am really enjoying the experience of introducing JN to some of older 'classic' films in my collection.

We watched V for Venetta the other night plus found a copy of Pulp Fiction for £3.

I also love the fact he is open to world cinema. Those that don't or won't watch films with subtitles really do miss out on some marvellous movies.

Amelie is up there for me. A lovely heart warming film.

Les Mis, the film is brilliant but the stage show is out of this world ~ such an emotional journey with a fabulous music score.

I'd love to play the part of Eponine.

You must have seen a much better version of the stage show than I did. It didn't grab me at all.
