Take a job for less money, doing a slightly different role if it was in an industry you prefered?

No. I'm far too materialistic. Would always choose money.

Depends on how much less I guess...long as it didn't have too much of an adverse affect on my life then yes I would.

Yes. It's also easier to move towards what you really want to be doing once you're on the inside. My current career (which I love) came after a scary year working on a contract across two departments, one of which I only had a peripheral interest in to start with but ended up being quite good at it. I now run one of the departments and mentor staff in the other. Best of both worlds.

Yes i did but i had to consider the future prospects such as:

Do i have the prospect to enhance my career in the future?

Can i earn more in the future and still enjoy what im doing?

Can i afford to take the cut?

Will the cut have an adverse reaction on my personal life?

I changed careers in my early thirties and went to earning less money. I also went from getting seven weeks holiday a year and an excellent sick scheme to getting no paid holiday at all. I also increased my hours. But I couldn't be happier in my job. Best thing I ever done.

Did so before..

job satisfaction is important if one is fortunate or accepting of the reduced salary initially..

respect for some that its not an option and fair play for those who toil away in work they despise for their families etc..

Not a chance .... work is a necessary evil which facilitates a pleasurable lifestyle away from work .

We enjoy what we have in a materialistic way , as do the children

So there is no way I would give it up and settle for less just to satisfy my personal desire .

It would depend if I could afford to or not. I don't work because I love working.

I don't know. I'm lucky in that whatever I'm doing I find something to enjoy. Give me a job shovelling coal and by the first tea break, I'd have 5 good things about it

Absolutely, and have done.

Know someone who took a role at 50% less pay (and 100% less aggravation) and is much happier and healthier for doing so.

Driving a 5 year old car ain't much different than a 1 year old car.

Can't afford a pay cut. I'll take any job if it pays the bills.

Sometimes, in search of contentment, you have to put more faith in your gut and less in your mind.

Yes I would, I have just graduated with a Degree in Computer Science.

I would take any job in the IT industry even if was to sweep the floors at Google or Apple. If it gets me through the door that's good for me.

My ideal job is a video games developer but anything will do really.

"Sometimes, in search of contentment, you have to put more faith in your gut and less in your mind."

Contentment is under-rated in a futile search for perfection.

"Take a job for less money, doing a slightly different role if it was in an industry you prefered?"

There are jobs that pay less than mine!?

Seriously it would entirely depend on our circumstances. However all else being equal I say yes, life is brief and spending a large part of it doing something you prefer less than something just because of money is a waste of it.
