Anyone else got one? What battery life do you get?? I am a light user of the phone (I'm mostly on a desktop) but the battery doesn't even last a day!! They sent me a replacement battery and that is no better!

Check your apps as some like Facebook and games like Angry Birds have adverts in them that kill battery life quickly.

Hmm, I might investigate if any equivalent phones are better and demand they change it - this is not bloody 'fit for purpose' in my book!! A mobile phone that continually need a static electricity supply? duh!!

I upgraded to the Ace 3 on Saturday, previously had the Ace 2, and the battery on them is quite good. I am mostly on ma pc when on here and for most other things though.

I make sure wifi and bluetooth are off on the phone as these drain the battery as well

If you have apps like facebook that are closed on screen, but notifications are still coming through, do they drain? Are they 'open' in some way?

I was getting annoyed with this too, running my business I would be lucky to get to midday before having to put my s3 on charge again.

Ive recently purchased a new "super" battery on ebay ... about £4 I think?

It now lasts around 8 hours which is still terrible, but much better than the 5 hours I had to struggle with

To make sure apps are closed, hold the home button for a couple of seconds, press the pie chart like button then scroll across to active applications and clear all. Also im not sure if the mini has this but I have the full size s3 go into the settings and turn on power saving, and turn your screen brightness down accordingly to the brightness you need it. Hope those tips help

I did all the above and even resorted to removing any app that wasnt needed for business ... made no difference to my handset at all

My s3 mini is great last 2-3 days but I rarely use it as it's my work phone. My s4 on the other hand should be a cable phone not mobile as spends 90% of time plugged in

I just looked at a review which says: 'What's more, on light usage of just calls, messages and the occasional email check and internet browse, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini battery life saw the handset maintain staying power for close to three full days.'

I think I shall demand a replacement, maybe there are some duff ones??

That's very very light usage. I've got the s4 mini and charge it twice a day. Most smart phones have battery issues. You can get high capacity batteries off eBay.

one of the biggest killers of battery life on any mobile phone is wifi when it's hunting for a SSID to lock onto.

If you're in an area where you know you can't get wifi connection then turn it off

It's the operating system on the Samsung's and other smartphones that drains the battery so quick. I upgraded to the S5 about a month ago from the HTC one X. Wish I hadn't bothered, I absolutely hate it. Am honestly considering selling it and investing in the new HTC as apparently the battery life on it is much better due to a new upgraded operating system. This is the 1st Samsung smartphone I've had and it will definitely be the last, I think it's awful.

It's all the background programmes that drain the battery. I bought a spare battery and charger for £23. I have a battery permanently on charge and just swap them over when one runs out. It works a treat. All smartphones have crap battery life.

WARNING PEDANT ALERT

The operating System on Samsung and HTC are both the same, Android.

The difference is the User Interface/Launcher that's laid on top of it . Samsungs is called TouchWiz & HTCs is called Sense.

You are correct though they do contribute towards battery usage.

It is possible however to use a 3rd party launcher, I use one called "Smart Launcher) a;though on my HTC One(M7 Dual Sim). Having said that I've not noticed any difference to battery life. Take it off charge in the morning (around 07:00), use all day for work then put back on charge when I go to bed at night, usually around midnight.

My Old Samsung Galaxy S Duos would I admit struggle to have enough charge for a whole working day even with a battery upgrade from 1800mah to 2400mah

You may get more battery life by using a utility which closes background apps which are running. A very good one is 'Android Assistant'. Turn on the 'Auto Boost' feature, set it to 30 minutes and it will periodically kill off running background apps.

Other tips for improving battery life are:-

Turn off (set to manual) or reduce the frequency of, programs which poll in the background - Gmail (or other email programs), Ebay app, Facebook app etc. Every time these poll they use battery life.

Using Android Assistant, look at which programs run on startup and disable background apps if they are not needed. Its surprising what shite loads in the background!

Get an app which disconnects your 3g Data when you're not using it. Certain Android variants do this automatically (Cyanogenmod for instance) but I would imagine stock manufacturer Roms probably don't.

I have a Nexus 4 and an Xperia M. I get 2 days light use out of the Nexus and four out of the Xperia. Both will easily last a full day with heavy use.

Use an app like Clean Master to optimise your phone.

You'll be able to monitor and turn off all of your apps. Plus you get popups trekking you about memory usage etc.

Ive got the s3 mini and I love it. Battery life I think is just as normal as any other phone it just depends on how much you use the intrrnet games phoning people. X

In a word yes..... Turn off wireless and Bluetooth unless actively using it.

If you check the battery option in the swipe down menu. It lists what is using how much of your battery use.

Also it sounds like you might will have an all that is stopping wireless from sleeping. You can check that by looking in the mobile data option in the same area. It lists apps and what days that are using. You might find something there that gives you a clue.

Can't find anything, I downloaded battery doctor with clean master and it only shows the 3 apps I'm using, all the rest are off.
