When the wind is in the right direction

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

What happens when the wind is in the right direction?

I remember one holiday home I was at where when changed direction all I could smell was silage.

Right now I can hear the gig on in the park half a mile away.

"The monkeys concert ?"

They're not on yet. Not a sound last night but everything loud and clear tonight.

Plus every cash machine in the area emptied by the concert-goers.

I wouldn't grumble, my mates have paid £80 to attend and your getting it for nothing.

I get the smell of manure when the wind blows in a certain way.

It's certainly better than silage. I have had the pleasure of many a summer concert just sitting in my living room.

Is it a nice green smell when the wind blows from other directions?

Yes very fresh smell. Surrounded by 6 acres. No neighbours no street lights on a clear night can see the stars.

That's one of favourite smells. Being somewhere where the change of the wind can lift your mood just by what you hear or smell is magical.

I love London but we don't get the night sky.

In the winter when the weather is rough, I'll stand outside in my yard just to listen to it.

Its a reassuring smell ,,,, in that the reason I love visiting this place so much is because it's like returning to a bygone age when life was lived at a gentler pace and people seemed to have different expectations and values....

So yeah.... comforting

Cannock

Live not far from a fish and chip shop so when the wind is in the right direction can get the smell of hot fish and chips. Its hard to resist going there when feeling hungry and the smell from the chippy comes.

When the wind is blowing in the right direction..

I can hear speedway racing

I can hear the football supporters at Portman Road

I once sat in the bath singing Maggie May with Rod Stewart as he was in concert close by

I can imagine Rod in your bath singing with you.

Central

Thankfully live somewhere on the edge of countryside, betwixt the Cotswolds, Welsh hills and Lake District in Birmingham. Only the birds are singing like crazy tonight, perhaps as thunderstorms have shut them up all day. Honeysuckle coming out, wafting its fragrance around.
