As a kid I was flame red, with temper to match. Age has had a mellowing effect on the latter and the thatch, although thinning has turned a light red/brown. Best of all the grey is noted by its absence

Natural redhead here.

The ginger gene is a mutation which causes a higher prevalence of a particular type of melanin to be _xpressed in the skin and hair and it is thought to have come about through 'a lack of negative selection' due to it being advantageous for vitamin D production in more northern latitudes, where sunlight is less intense.

The gene isn't necessarily dying out and it's possible that it skips generations, but it may be in our best interests to let people believe we are a declining breed

We also feel heat related pain more acutely and require extra anesthesia during medical operations when compared with other people.

So to summarise;

as a result of a genetic mutation:

we burn in the sun,

we got bullied in our childhood,

we feel more pain,

we need more anesthesia.

so a bit like crap x-men really lol, although having said that I would never dream of being anything other than a ginger
