evesham

a temporary promotion has come up at my work.

To apply for it you need to be out of my probation period which i wont be by all of 2 weeks (although i have worked there for a year, i was working through an agency until January this year).

I have lots of relevant experience for the role and am ken to develop my career etc

I am wondering if i should apply despite not meeting the whole criteria, would it be reasonable to ask them to overlook the 2 weeks?

Scotland - Aberdeen

I would say so! I recruit and internal candidates are always the best as they know the culture of the company so go for it!

Somewhere in North Norfolk

Worst thing they can say is no.

Give it a try. If nothing else it shows ambition and commitment to advancing.

Apply and put why you think you meet their requirements and mention your time with agency there, if they are any good they will take in into account

Yes. You should go for it. Opportunities like that don't come all the time.

If they look at your work ethic and the way you've been working. That probation period shouldn't matter.

...i've been in a similar situation. I went from receptionist to a full on file handler with my own clients, my own room and laptop.

Good luck x

Titz Towers, North Notts

Go for it, even if nothing comes of it you have shown ambition and confidence.

I know someone whose father got quite high in the Coal Board through applying for unlikely jobs

Yes, for all of the reasons above.

It does no harm to point out that you have time served through the agency contract.

my advice to you would be go for it because you don't get anything without trying and it would drive me crazy not knowing what could of been, anyway that's my thoughts but best of luck whatever you decide x

I'd contact the person who would be the line manager of the oust and ask them.

If the company like you then they will overlook the 2 weeks I'd expect, that or delay the closing date or similar to show you to apply.

It seems silly that they would deny themselves the employee that they thought must suitable for a post. Recruitment costs a fortune.

No brainer! Apply for it! They'll admire your pluck and even if you don't get it you'll create a really good impression.

Good luck

Angus & Findhorn

highlight your level of experience, the fact that you could slip into the role with little or no difficulty and you would hit the road running..

the more positives, the less the 2 weeks becomes an issue.....

good luck
