would you class the word "fart" as a mild swearword?

notts

just that lots of really young kids seem to use it instead of the old fashioned "trump"

it gets used alot on tele in kids stuff too.

We just think its a mild swearword that little kids should not be using, maybe we are just old fashioned??

No I don't consider to be swearing, although I'm not really a fan of toilet words/humour.

(m) No. Fart can't be considered a swear word. If Fart is a swear word, then Burp should be too. It's the same as a fart but comes out the mouth instead. Both are expelling gas from the body. Or is fart only dirty because it's an action that comes from the same place as shit.

I still think of it as a mild swear word. I wouldn't want my 3 and 5year old to say it

My grandchildren say fart or fluffed. According to my grandson the children in his class just say ewww when someone farts. Making up silly words for body functions isn't my forte

My motto was when my kids were young, if you wouldn't say it to your teacher don't say it

i doubt many kids would say fart to their teacher there for i see it as an unacceptable word for a child to say, my kids certainly wasn't allowed to talk in such a way

Not really... It's a word for a bodily function, although it would appear that it's a socially unacceptable one.

I'd probably be more likely to use the word "wind" but wouldn't be offended if a child of mine said it.

We used to get told off for saying diarrhoea in school. I believe "verbal digestive distress" may pass without getting you a detention though.

We must be old fashioned too as we don't allow our children to say it.

Its "trump" to them...

Yep Fart has been declassified as a swear word. Tried pulling my children up on it but gave up. Won't be long before Cunt is an everyday word (even used on the news).

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I think context is everything.

For example, if a six year old told a seventy year old they were an old fart then I would treat it as if they had sworn.

I was brought up believing fart was a rude word. I said bottom burp or boodle.

My lad says fart and he's 3.

Didn't help the fact that the first time he came out with it I couldn't breathe I was laughing so hard!

Although he does say 'oops I farted, pardon meeeee' then giggles so I can't tell him off, it's hilarious
