Glasgow

Ive been on this for a few years now essentially on the maintenance dose of 60mg per day which is the accepted norm but over the past few weeks the reflux has really kicked up such that ive been taking 90 or 120 per day. Does anyone else routinely take this much? I must say ive had no adverse effects from this high dose plus millions and millions of people worldwide take PPI's so its not as if theyre remotely harmful.

Hi, I have been taking omeprazole 20mg for years and has worked well maybe the brand is no longer what you need or maybe you have developed an stomach ulcer and you need further investigation at doctors/hospital also be aware of heart problems can appear to cause similar stomach symptoms, best to seek proffesional advice i think !

You should go back to your gp and stop changing the prescribed dose. Now.

Why would you change the prescribed amount as set by your GP???

It sounds crazy to do this without checking with the Doc first!

Seriously, get yourself checked by a professional!

Millions and millions take aspirin and paracetamol too. If you take too much they are definitely more than remotely harmful.

What other meds are you taking? Lansoprazole is usually given in conjunction with long term use if NSAID's or aspirin and several other drugs that can affect the stomach lining. It's also given if someone suffers from conditions such as gastritis.

You really need to go back and see your GP and have your symptoms investigated as it could be a sign of something more nefarious.
