What's the difference? Which is better?

If I wanted to use frozen berries which would be better to get?

Dont want to spend a fortune but want one that's up to the job.

For frozen berries I just use a hand blender, though tempted to get a fusion blender

See I want something to make smoothies but I thought if I out that people would think I'm stupid ad the answer is obvious lol but smoothie makers seem more expensive so wondered what the difference was.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I just use one of those stick hand blenders. Cheap, doesn't take up loads of space and works.

I have a juicer at the back of the cupboard if you want it.

Sheffield

Go for a hand blender or a jug blender. If a hand (or stick) blender get one where the stick part is all metal as this will last better.

Somewhere in North Norfolk

I have a smoothie maker. I bought it when it was on special offer and in three or four years have used it exactly zero times

Maybe this summer.

Mind you, I can't have fruit when low carbing so maybe not.

Smoothie makers have a tap at the bottom, blenders you have to pour the results out. That is the only difference between a blender and a smoothie maker I can see. It might be worth comparing the power of the motors to see if a smoothie maker is more powerful.

With the super duper blenders....you can make soup as they spin so fast that they start cooking what they're blending, also you don't get any bits that haven't blended which can happen with less powerful models, it takes about 30 seconds to blend everything, including the tiny seeds on a strawberry apparently, and they clean themselves too... You just add a bit of washing up liquid to some water, put it into the jug and switch it on.

They do cost at least £250 to buy though.

Got a hand blender set from response in the end. Come with a jug, a whisk and a mini chopper thing.

Just making a roast garlic and aubergine hummus atm, it's yummy

As far as power is concerned: the vitamix, blendtec and enpee apparently have motors that have over 1500watts of power and spin from 10 to around 300mph ...very good for green smoothies..

All 3 seem to have great reviews on amazon ...coming with massive warranties...5-7 years.

There's a nutribullet which is a relatively cheaper alternative, though by all accounts, not as robust as the above.

Love smoothies but u need to be careful not to overdo the sugar.

So I now add beetroot, carrots, spurulina, flaxseed, and stuff low in sugar.

Carrot, apple and beetroot is nice.
