Theres not really any comparison...

Ive always played Rugby, played Football when a lot younger.

When playing, I would rather play Rugby everytime!

But watching, would rather watch football...

If I were a boy I'd rather play rugby, unless I was good enough to play football in the premiership. Then I'd rather have the pay of a footballer. Watching sport I don't have a preference,I just like an exciting game with lots of action. I appreciate each sport for it's own merits

Football is more popular than Rugby but that's about it. One sport can't be better than the other because they're different and require different skills and tactics.

I love football though: both playing and watching!

Both sports are completely different and cannot be compared to each other. It's like comparing snooker and darts. Football is by far the most popular and rugby is still somewhat a minority sport. That doesn't make one better than the other though.

Prefer rugby, if forced to play either of them. I would NEVER watch either of them, I just can't get excited by these type of sports.

Fishing is more popular than any of them.

Fishing isn't more popular. These are the most recent figures I could find.

PARTICIPATION - HOW SPORTS RANK

1 Swimming 2.89m (2.82m in April 2012)

2 Athletics 1.96m (1.99m)

3 Football 1.94m (2.2m)

Fishing comes in at 1.39m

Think about how Rugby was invented (if Im correct in saying so).

A game of football was going on in school, some lad picks the ball up and runs with it, dabs it down over the line and the P.E teacher/Referee says something like:

'Bloody good work chap, have an extra 4 points you have just scored a try'

WTF did the other kids say?

'Fuck off Sir you rotten shit you can't do that' - Thats my guess

It must of had to of been at one point as the question came up in 'Trivial Pursuit Genius Edition' if I remember and a few Christmas Cracker questions.

I didnt believe it before the day of the internet but Im sure it used to be that way.

Wiki dosent even list 'fishing' under 'Sport in the uk'

Rugby everytime. I love football but choose not to expose my kids to the culture that surrounds it.
