n lincs

Electric tripped overnight. Singled it out to one breaker. Unplugged everything and switched all switches of. Breaker still tripping. Any ideas.

Gonna try swapping breaker with one that not tripping after work.

Any other ideas to find the fault muchly appreciated

I'm not a sparky but our old house did this. Never did get it fixed, just moved cos that's how we roll. Not very helpful I know

I do know that when we had the shower fitted we were told that we had a bad earth in the house so maybe something to do with that?

Best bet is to call a qualified electrification.

Mine ran out of petrol so I just left it there

Not an answer you want to hear sorry.

If you need to post for advice on your electrics should you be messing with it?

Electricity can kill.

Call a qualified electrician he will check for possible causes of nuisance tripping.

Double check that you're actually resetting it properly ..... on SOME types, the lever only moves about 3/4 down when tripping 'off' - you then need to press the lever FULLY DOWN, before pushing it back to the top to switch the circuit back on.

Check that it's not this type!

And check everything is unplugged from that circuit. It's rarely the house.

If everything is unplugged and it still tripping then it sounds like a short circuit on the ring main.

are there any burn marks on any of the sockets?

Or did you notice any of them smoking when it first tripped?

was running round like a headless chicken this morning but didn't notice any burn marks at all. Flicked the switch down fully befor resetting and trips straight awayand everything is unplugged and switched off on that ring

Got home from work flicked switch all is good.

Plugged everything in and switched on and still all is good.

Must have a ghost
