Up until two years ago, I had a few years of being single I was extremely happy and everything was fantastic. I seriously questioned being in a relationship ever again.

Then I met my fella and I soon realised that I could keep some independence and be in a relationship at the same time.

we have the best of both worlds.

long distance relationship.

see each other as often as we can (usually every other weekend, for 3 days) and spend every waking minute with each other, hugging and holding as much as possible.

then, when we part company, its phone calls texts but we both do our own thing (obviously not sexual as we are dedicated to each other)

so we arent living in each others pockets.

we are there for each other

we have our own space and lives.

I've only had one relationship,which lasted 30 years and was a nightmare for me. I would like someone to sit with and watch tv or go out for a quiet drink with or even to stroll along the beach at midnight,but I don't want the rest of the relationship

Neither is better or worse. They are just different. I've enjoyed being single and enjoyed being in relationships, both have their pros and cons.

That said having no family I do enjoy the security of a relationship.

I've had really good relationships & a good marriage until the last few months, which were flaming awful & not to be repeated.

I enjoy the freedom of singledom, like others have said I miss regular cuddles, chance to discuss your day with each other & regular sex - but it suits for now and I can't see it changing imminently.
