Just walking up the road and saw a Christmas tree in a skip and was almost tempted to rescue it

What's the best thing you've retrieved, if at all

Titz Towers, North Notts

When I was doing some temping work whilst at Uni, the office I was doing the reception on was being renovated and in exchange for a few sweets, the builders put all of the door frames and skirting in the back of my car. My folks have an open fire and were grateful at saving on coal.

I constantly go through skips, best find was a ships lamp, I sold on ebay for 180 .

Usually concrete flower pots are good sellers as are barrells sold a oak barrel cut in half like a flower pot 40 weathered concrete post usually between 1 to 20 each

Or any scrap metal especially copper

I have a picture my father got out a skip in wembley high road in 1967 it's a gypsy picture , but I would never get rid of it even if it was worth money , but irreplaceable to me

I am not a tramp, just a 3 rd generation running the family cleaning business

Love the sound of that phone box. I hope they had the sense to plumb the heating control into the dial and that if someone spends too long in it, you get the pips.

We do this quite a lot and have found some good stuff - it's amazing what people throw away. Our best find was two full-size tailors' dummies - sold them for nearly £400

Bristol

2 lush leather chairs, a standard lamp that looks fantastic with a new shade and painted stand, a reel to reel studio tape recorder (I shit you not), a He-man Castle Greyskull and the collected Strand issues of Sherlock Holmes stories in a ring-binder. Not all in the same skip!

I've just had a skip, funnily enough my old fake Christmas Tree went in it!

I have been amazed how things disappeared out of it ! Even my Nan's old saucepans

A dark green chesterfield winged armchair. I did go and knock on the door and asked if it was ok to take it. They said yes and asked if I also wanted the matching footstool!!!!

This was over 20 years ago ...... I've still got them
