"Now a knee replacement is something I know about! My dad's not long back had his done as has the other halves mum has had hers done for years. If it's leaking fluid it could be a sign of infection. Does it feel inflamed or "hot" to the touch? You're really better off at a Doctors as soon as possible over it as it could potentially be serious." Clear fluid and the leg/knee feels fine. Not hot or inflammed at all......just the fluid.

"Hmm if it's clear liquid and it's very recently done it doesn't sound too serious. It's infection if it's a yellowly funky colour and if it smells well... gunky. Clear liquid could just be fluid build up on the joint coming through. It might be worth giving the hospital where you had it done a call in the morning. They'd be able to give some advice over the phone." Yes. Think i will ring them tomorrow and thanks all for the advice

"Can you get a district nurse out to see you? Had a friend had both knees done at separate times within the last year, takes a whole for the swelling to go down. Keep it elevated at waist height when sat down, take ibuprofen/diclofenac for swelling, cold compress for 20mins at a time. Inadine dressings help to keep it clean of infection with a dressing ontop to absorb any weeping ( all available of district nurse on prescription) a good local pharmacy will deliver them out to you if needed hon. Hope that helps x x" Thank you.... will do some phoning tomorrow

Is the calf still swollen? " Most likely it is oedema exudate but need to rule out dvt. Best to call your ortho Secretary and get into their clinic rather than see anyone else. Trust me, surgeons are very possessive of their own patients and wouldn't want someone else staying antibiotics etc without consulting them.

"It perhaps needs packing, if its some of the incision, that hasn't quite healed. A simple job, if the fluid, becomes gungy, or smelly, it maybe infected. Antibiotics will be required. If you want anymore info, Hun, chuck me an inbox. " Its so tiny you cant see it. so couldnt pack it and no where near the incision at all..... thank you for the advice .....everyone

"Just out of interest, how many who replied are actual medics? " I'm level two first aid but stated that.
