Has anyone had any experiences using a home kit? or Would you recommend a service that is good?

Im 100% sure, its just him who wants the evidence (which ive no objections too)

and i have no intentions of going on Jezzer btw

I would think most mothers are 100% sure.

Top tip : get a good look at it as soon as possible in case they try do a switch on you.

I wouldn't recommend a home test, I would think your better off getting it done properly

yes soon as we sat down he suggested it,, i said if your paying for it i have no issues with swab testing

that was the only negative though, they got on great

ive not a clue,, still if he wants it and he's paying for it then im not gonna object.

we had just sat down when he asked the question about it (so not the most cheerful starts).. he then left to go to boots to see if they had one to buy..

i wanted to laugh but resisted..

It might not be a bad thing that he wants the test. He may really want to be part of her life and so wants to make sure he's her Dad, so that he doesn't get emotionally attached and then find out she's not his.

Don't do a home test they are easy to fiddle. If he doesn't want the child to be his he could give you a swab taken from one of his friends. I've no idea how much a private one would be but if it's something he wants he'll be willing to pay the extra.

i have no objections what so ever to the test, 1 million percent sure naturally

his reason was 'well i need to be sure before i get her name tattooed on my arm with the other kids'

i said to him 3 n half years ago (when we didnt see eye to eye) that if i were to pin my child on any man in the world through choice, never in a million years would it be him..

i *think* that if you want one that will be 'official' there are only one or two places that can do them. cab may be the best place to ask.

The tests can be done by some GPs and you don't have to be registered at the Practice to have them done if the Practice provides the service.

A company called Cellmark provide kits but I am not sure if they are available to individuals or what cost is involved. Our Practice often did them at the request of social services or a solicitor. The cost was £43.00 per apptand had to be paid ahead of the appt (if the client does not attend a further £43 is charged for a repeat appt) - they do not fall within the NHS services and a double appt should be allocated for each test. The £43 is the GP's charge, Cellmark would charge separately for the kit and testing. You have to provide two passport sized photos and proof of ID, usually photo ID and a utility bill, in your child's case presumably you could take photo ID and your child's birth certificate.

The tests are done very carefully and there are forms etc which have to be filled in at the time the swab is taken, hence the 20 minute appt per swab and the photos have to be signed by the GP and sent with the swab to Cellmark as confirmation that the swab was taken from the person identified in the photos. Parent and child can attend at different times altho it is obviously best to arrange the appts reasonably close together to avoid delays. Both swabs are sent together to Cellmark, not sure how long the results take. Cellmark have a website which gives details, easy to find via google. x

Csa do it for free. My nephews dad denied he was the father. He had to go to a doctor of their choosing with id, they photograph him before the test so no mates going on his behalf.

Still doesn't have anything to do with his son: his only child.

Ive never wanted his money, just would rather he have a relationship with his daughter

Will phone my GP up tomorrow, im not after the result so i can get money, he just wants peace of mind

CSA are not free, the test fee is paid by non resident parent disputing paternity. Can be paid upfront or added to any arrears/ debt

If you're going to do it, I'd follow something like the police do with alcohol tests, where they have mutliple samples. These can then be used for corroboration, and to ensure that no-one's taking the p.

I think it's just a swab in the mouth and not a urine sample.

I've just seen this. That is a big step after all that has (not) gone before.

Once he accepts paternity he has to understand that he can't just disappear on his daughter when he feels like it.

I went through two different sites, but DNA worldwide were very good and helpful. Think it was about 150 pound and free postage. First one we did his father got his friend to do it, some absolutely disgusting men in this world, and eventually did another. I strongly suggest you go through GP to do it or do it so that you're both in the same room or if it gets bad go through CSA but they're useless to be honest!

Hubby ....

My ex had 3/4 abortion ...no none of them mine ..

I was over seas in the army ...

When I came home tryed to keep my family together. We had a son about 5or 6 ...

She had yet another child I thought it was mine

A girl nope 9 months later nope not mine ....

Again tryed to keep my family together ...

Again another child guess what RIGHT. Not mine

Isaid no more ....

Years later son 16 girl 12 other child 10 boy

This stupid bitch tell little girl 12year of thinking calling me dad tells her no he is nothing to you ....

A very big blow out ...well anyway I told the girl no iam not you true blood dad ... (you might be thinking iam right) ..lol she is black iam not .............

Well now hear is the million dollar question ....

Should I walk away hands in the air saying see yaw ....oh btw fyi ....my oldest son from her passed away

.....no more ties withe the ex wife ....

Girl has my last name that's it ....other child no nothing to do with him .....

Last time saw little girl was Dec 25 13

When he met her yesterday he said to me whilst she was off playing, that he was tempted to say 'im your daddy'

so to me that indicates he thinks he is, also he has spoken to his oldest son about A saying he's a younger sister.

he just wanted peace of mind before he got her name tattooed on his arm along with his other 2 children.. and yes i did roll my eyes when that was his reason

oh and i have zero intentions of wasting my money on a test, he wants it im not objecting just refusing to pay

Sounds like he has grown up and is wantin to take responsibility but is wanting to be 100% sure he isn't bonding with another mans child which is understandable.

It won't be easy for you not at all but if your mind is telling you its the right thing to do for her then it probably is. Having a father figure isn't a must for a child but its good for a child to know who their parents are.

In my line of work I deal with paternity issues aot. I would suggest getting it done properly through a recognised company & your GP. The ones online or over the counter are referrred to a "peace of mind tests" and have no holding in the family court of the child maintenance service should you ever have a need to use them.

at this moment in time he is unaware of my circumstance.

if he has shown very little interest for the past 3 n half years i think its very unlikely he would go for custody
