"Have you found that the Volcanic ash has made it worse recently? x" Got this info off asthma uk Cher Piddock, clinical lead at Asthma UK, said: ‘We know that volcanic ash can trigger asthma symptoms in people with asthma, however at the moment the ash is very high in the atmosphere and does not pose an immediate problem. We advise people with asthma to monitor the news closely and ensure they keep their reliever inhaler on them at all times. If people are concerned about their condition, they can speak to an asthma nurse specialist on our Adviceline.

"Alright folks?? I was looking through the forums only my breathing has got worse recently. I have always got breathless after moderate exertion but have always put it down to not being very fit and that a carry a fair bit of excess weight, however, lately, I have become more breathless than usual. I noticed around Christmas that I was finding it harder to breathe, and it has slightly got worse until about 3 weeks ago when I had a cold and a poorly throat. Now I find I am breathless sometimes even at rest, and I cannot seem to get much air down, my breathing is also very shallow. I have never been tested for asthma, even though some of my family suffer with the condition. Any advice is most welcome. Jason " Get to the docs and get it checked out. NOW

"Blimey this thread has been dragged out of the archives " I know, but this is the only thread that mentions asthma. I did mention the breathlessness, I was told it was down the the infection. I'm not convinced. It felt like I had phlegm at the back of my throat and trying to cough it up contributed to the poorly throat.

" If you have medication and it doesn't work, or if your symptoms / breathing stay at same level or get worse get right back to doctor and have tests done, maybe xrays, not wanting to worry you, just doctor is best person to see

"Not really. I have had tightness across the chest before, because I suffer from anxiety as well, I havent experienced any tightening for a while. (I know anxiety can mess up a persons breathing, but this is different, as I am not breathing much at all. I just cannot seem to get much air down into my chest.)" Wasn't thinking anxiety. don't panic wasn't thinking heart attack either, but it's possible you could have a slight lung infection. I would go back to the doc if you're still unsure or worried x

"Smog alert has been issued for this weekend, PM10's being blamed, and advice is "avoiding taking exercise outside in the afternoon if they are susceptible to the pollutants and not taking unnecessary short car journeys - in a bid to help reduce the build-up of ozone"....well I dont drive lol" The smog is a good point and also the oilseed rape as that`s out in flower too. Could be other tree pollen and the unusually warm weather.
