"I joined the Airforce at seventeen and a half, lived all over Britain and Europe eventually pitched up back in Scotland. were you a biggles ????" I was an airframes tech, kept a few 'biggles' functioning fully.

"I left home at 19, brought my first flat at 23.....cannot understand how anyone could live with their parents in their 30's." Because some can't afford to leave home or see no need to. I have a mate who's 35 and still with his dad. The only reason why i think he's staying on is because the house is worth £250k and when his dad pops his clogs he's expecting the house to get passed onto him. He has his own successful business and is loaded and he could leave and survive on his own. No wonder he can afford a BMW X5.

"Here's hoping his dad leaves the lot to charity " That's what we say to him, how funny would it be if he left him nothing

"I left home when I left for uni at 19.... but i can understand why people leave home a lot later now...just so expensive..." A little later yes......but men living with mum in their 30's is something else.

"I can understand young people not finding it easy to afford their own place, but they also need their independance in life. What is a man in his 30's ever going to learn about life if he comes home to dinner cooked by mum every night and his ironing all hung up in his wardrobe? " opposed to a wife doing it?

"I left home when I left for uni at 19.... but i can understand why people leave home a lot later now...just so expensive... A little later yes......but men living with mum in their 30's is something else." Why is it something else? I don't see any problem with it and that also applies to females wanting to stay with mummy and daddy. Some just can't afford to stay on their own and the council and housing association waiting list are huge. Unless you are a junkie or a single parent you will shoot further up the list and both of those don't apply to me. I'm renting an ex council house from a private landlord and he's charging near enough double what the rent would be from the council. The only reason i do so is because me and my mother clashed and it was best that i got a place of my own. If it wasn't for that i would move back in with the parents. Suppose i could make up with the wife and move back into my 3 bedroomed semi.....

"I had a meet a few months ago with a man of 32 who had never left home and was still encamped with mother, he even takes women he meets on sites like this back home...... Just a little too weird for me" A friend of mine returned to his mother after his divorce...he was 55!! Now that is odd...if you can't fend for yourself at 55, but need an 82 year old to cook your meals then there is something wrong. My middle daughter is 23 and still lives at home - I was married with a child at her age. I agree that it's difficult for young people nowadays, but I'm with you Jayne - thirty somethings livihg at home is just odd!
