Do any gay men out there want to become parents? I am friends with a gay couple who are split on the issue. One really wants kids and the other doesn't.

I personally think it's a good thing, especially if it's adoption.

If one really doesnt want kids he shouldnt be guilted into it. That goes for any relationship not just gay.

If anyone has the means to provide a loving stable home for a child then sexual preference shouldnt be a factor in their suitability.

I completely agree that no one should be guilted in to having children . But if someone wants them it's just as in fair to be made to go with out . Friends of mine split a few years ago , they were very much in love and very well suited . He was despret to have children so they split he went on to get married and have 2 children . She regretted losing him and has stayed single and heart broken .

I was born to parents who didn't want me - to this day it still hurts and has left deep emotional scars.

Nobody - absolutely nobody - has a "right" to have children.

It's a privilege that should be appreciated and earned - I could happily break the legs of anyone who dares to bring children into this world without being prepared to love them....

But if you want them, and can love them - then yes, do go for it - and it doesn't matter if you're straight or gay, martian or vulcan - just do it with love - please...

The sexuality of parents doesn't matter the key think is they are caring loving parents who want children for the right reasons and want the best for them.

Yeah I got sidetracked by my lad, anyway they both agreed they wanted a child and went down the surrogate route with a friend they had known for a long time, but like a pp said it should be as long as both are in agreement not just one sided.

If one isnt keen, it will become apparent in the adoption interviews. They are very good at sussing out just this type of problem.

My son is gay and he has a lovely partner, they are often chatting about marriage and children.

I say good luck to them and anyone else that is thinking of doing the same.

It would never work in my opinion if one says yes and the other no, it would definitely put pressure on the relationship..... Ruby
