"My mum just text me, asking if me and my lad would like to go to Blackpool with them for 5 days to get away for a bit. They went 2 years ago, it pissed it down the entire time and they came home early. They swore never to go on holiday in England again as it's cheaper to go abroad and you've got better chance of good weather. I know for a fact that the only reason they are doing it is so we can go, they know I can't afford it so they would be paying for everything!! So I've said no, my dad works hard and he deserves a holiday he wants not one he's stuck with so he can take us along which would be more expensive. They thought I was joking when I turned it down. Now I'm sat here thinking how lovely it would be to get away from all this for a few days. But they should go where they want. What would you of done?? X" do you know we have been having a similar sort of conversation today but in relation to someone offering to pay for my mum and dad to go on holiday. What we said to my parents is that the people offering are adults, they will have thought it through and have made the offer willingly, we told them not to deprive people of the pleasure of giving. I would say a similar thing to you but if you think they don't like Blackpool suggest somewhere else your parents wouldn't have asked if they didn't want to do it

"Serious answer now : Go for it. I guess they are thinking of your nipper and I think it's a great gesture. Every child should be able to go on holiday. I never went away til I was 14 thru mum being a single parent and it wasn't nice being the kid that had to stay at his grandma's all summer." I never resented her for it, never would, but it still hurt, to the degree I made up a fantasy world all of my own. It is also maybe the reason I jump at the chance of travel any time I can now.

"I have explained to them that over 5 hours in a car with a 3 year old (who gets travel sick sometimes) is a bit much. Also reminded my mum about their last trip there with the terrible weather and how expensive it was. Suggested leaving it a couple of years so that my lad will be older and will before appreciative and will be able to do more things. Have decided on a couple of nice days out instead to chessington and sealife centre etc and told them to book their holiday somewhere nice x" Ah now I didn't know how young ur nipper was. I am now more inclined to your POV

I think the reason they may have asked you in the first place is because the most important aspect of any holiday for them could be to spend quality time with you and the little one.
