...Up on the Downs

How can a message I send be double ticked at say 5o'clock if someone was 'last seen' at 4 o'clock, I don't get it?

Double tick is that it's been delivered....not read

think single tick sent and double delivered? Dont think there is any way to show its been read? Other than assume it has if person on line after it delivered?

Single tick means its been received by the server (or wotever lol) and the double tick means its been received by the actual phone.

The check marks explained here

http://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/general/20951546

Single tick- it's been delivered to the server

Double tick - it's been delivered to the phone.

You don't get one for if it's read or not. You need BBM or iMessage for that functionality

You can go offline, read the message, and then go back online and it doesn't show you've been online.

Quote from whatsapp FAQ

If you only see a single check mark next to your message, there is likely nothing wrong with WhatsApp or your phone. There may be several reasons why your message is delivered to the server, but not to your chat partner:

Their phone might be turned off or their phone's battery might be dead.

They could be sleeping, especially if they live in a different time zone.

They may not be connected to the internet (for example, if they are in an elevator, roaming or have no data credits).

They might have seen the notification on the screen, but did not launch the app to acknowledge message receipt (very common in case of iPhone recipients).

They might have blocked you. For more information read this article.

Cool, thanks guys. Shame, sometimes it's useful to know if something has been read or not.
