If she had told him beforehand he could of made an informed decision whether to sleep with her. By her not telling him that decision was taken away from him. She's lucky she has a head left on her shoulders

Yes he did. If you have a contagious, life changing illness you should tell who ever is at risk so that they can make an informed choice.

I don't watch soaps so I don't know how nasty he got but he certainly had a right to be pissed off.

To be honest in real life I would make an informed decision to end my sex life if I had that.

Anyone that delivers that knowingly should hold a sentence.

HIV is actually pretty hard to catch.....it's less likely that a woman can pass it onto a man but more likely for a man to pass it on to a woman...due to how our individual sexual organs are made up....it has a higher pass on rate anally as well..

"Just a script.. "

It maybe just a script but this happens everyday in real life...more and more people are getting infected with HIV and there are a growing number of 50+ women who are contracting the disease....I think it's a well thought out story

in the u.s. people can be sentenced for knowingly passing it on without telling the other person first. I'm not sure how many times it's been used but it was enacted to attempt to discourage people passing it on back in the 90s.

and some do because they think no one will sleep with them and they don't want to go without sex. others ignore symptoms and go without testing, or even getting tested if they know they've slept with someone who had it. others just don't think it'll happen to them. some people are inherently selfish. i don't think hiv will ever be stamped out. nothing ever has been, some have simply been head off in most areas because of vaccinations.

Some openly do it by having pos parties where everybody there is HIV + and they have unprotected sex with others there. HIV has 2 strands and you can get a different strand in this situation which will lead to the combination therapy you are on to become less effective which will increase your viral count etc...

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I don't watch the soaps anymore but I was pleased to see the press about this storyline.

As Cheeky has said the increase in STIs is being seen in the over 50s and if Emmerdale can help educate this group with this particular storyline then that is good.

HIV doesn't have to mean the end of sex but it should mean being open with your sexual partners so that they have a choice.

Cold sores are easier to catch so please disclose.

That's what I said. On another thread someone mentioned this too. Apparently they are called "gifters" not a present I want

So how many of you presume that oral without a condom is fine as long as you have penetrative sex with a condom ??

Oral sex without a condom carries risks as you can get STD in the mouth...HIV is passed on through body fluids so if you have ulcers in the mouth or cuts etc it's an idea to use protection.....stats show that you have a 1in100 chance of getting HIV if you have "normal" sex with a person who is HIV+ (Though depending on their viral load count) and 1 in 30 chance of getting HIV anally.....HIV is actually quite difficult to catch but of course there is still a chance you can catch it from having sex once with an infected person

I have read of 'gifting' parties within the Gay community whereby Positive men 'gift' HIV to other men, all consensual.

I read a few internet articles and inter_iews, which discussed the overall physiological factors behind such a decision; that these men no longer felt any fear now that they had HIV, that they felt a sense of belonging and do not see HIV as a terminal disease.

It stunned and upset me in the reading up on it - I can empathise to some degree with their choices, but wouldn't agree with it or ever feel I would understand it.
