I could be arrested for murder by the end of the day...

the 11yr old has arisen out of his pit of a room, with a stinking attitude, on how everything is unfair...

ive done two loads of washing already and hes just found another load from his room.

Hes got till tonight to get it cleaned or im up there with a bin bag!

Do you make your children do simple jobs??

Do they do them? Do you end up doing them yourself?

Mine is only 4 years old and i do give him jobs. Tho it is a little hit and miss as to whether they get done or not. Lol

Just take a deep breath, count to 10 and remember that you love them really.

I remember it well!But you know when he finally leaves home you'll miss him terribly and if its any consolation,now mine have their own homes,they are so neat and tidy you could eat off the floor!!

Pffft my son used to get given jobs, I never went in his room from when he was about 11. Everything was a constant argument to get anything done.

When it was big shop day he had to come and meet me to carry the bags home. He used to whine about it so one week I didn't do a shop, he met me after that

its his pit .. as long as your happy with his clean clothes let him lie in it and get him in a better mood later on .. or distract him .. talk about stuff he likes doing and appeal to his imagination .. start with the chores and he may join in .. just dont stress .. lifes too short xx

oh dear - memories - yes mine had jobs but i never designated them - so if i asked say to help mum with something they usually did(not always) - some jobs had wages cleaning the car for a couple of quid - another quid if they hoovered it out kind of thing - the rooms were the worst thing and still are but theyre way older now and i just shut the door on it - daughter is the worst by far (more now than back then)

My daughter is two, puts away her own coat n shoes when we come in, puts anything she's eaten/d*unk from by the sink, puts her rubbish in the bin, picks her toys up, always puts her laundry in the basket, and helps sort laundry n load/unload the washer/dryer. We make everything fun, and when she does as shes supposed to there is always lots of praise and for really good things, sweeties! Yes it's bribery, but I figure if she starts early, things like washing in the tub will b automatic as she gets older!

If its any consolation,now that mine all have homes of their own,their places are so clean and spotless,you could probably eat off the floor!!They do change as they get older and you will miss him terribly when he leaves home!

Mine is 11 has simple... well I think they are simple jobs..

put his clothes away... they end up unfolded in a heap on floor.

to put his swim stuff straight in machine... it spends the night in a swim bag.

and to keep his room tidy.. never happens.

but still expects to go swimming, youth club, young farmers and do various activities which cost me money..

hes meant to do these jobs to earn his pocketmoney, to pay for these things.

I then feel mean if he dont go to these clubs and it also gives me a littke break .

raggghhhh im breathing and counting to 20

i was only child - always my job to set table and wash or dry pots (one or the other) - my room me tidy - my clothes me iron (cant believe how chuffed i was when allowed to iron my dads shirts at last when i was younger)

Mine has to keep his bedroom tidy and clean his 'den'. He usually procrastinates until I threaten to confiscate his laptop. He's permanently defensive at the moment Love him dearly though

we have this argument constantly (v's kids as i dont have any)

i say she shouldnt do a thing for them unless they reciprocate with doing chores.

she says she just does their stuff whilst she is doing the house anyway, yet never stops saying they do bog all.

thing is, her kids arent kids anymore, they are young adults.

im a firm believer that kids get out what they give.

if they arent interested in doing anything to get what they want, then they get nothing, and i mean literally, nothing.

clean clothes, nice food (further than basics) and so on.

kids seem to thing they are owed something (yes, i was the same, difference is, i could get my arse kicked for stropping about the house lol)

Just remind him of the spare cash it brings!! To be fair my daughter got her own paper round as soon as she turned 13 and she loves it but then again at £72 per month plus pocket money of £20 from me and £15 from her grandparents. Wish I had £100+ per month to play with

Don't miss the days of hormonal teenagers at all, I really do feel for you. I even thought of starting a "parentline" where you could just ring, have a good moan and get it off your chest and some one to reassure you your not the only one going through it.

Just remember, they do come put the other side lol

My children always did jobs for me to earn pocket money. As a Mum of four with a full time job, it made my life much easier

My oldest even sent me a message this morning to say her Daughter was cleaning the bathroom to earn hers

Our kids get jobs washing up vacing up stuff like that, Mrs Liddy goes mad about the kids rooms, but I once heard a brilliant bit on advice, just shut the door

My 11 earns £25 a month in pocket money to pay his phone bill . He makes cups of tea on request , washes up every night, emptys bins , irons and puts washing in . BUT his room is his own prob . I shut the door over a year ago and now I leave his clean clothes out side his bed room door and will only wash the dirty clothes he leaves in the hall way

mine are 7 & 14, they don't have specific jobs to do each day but my little girl is generally tidy and quite likes helping around the house at the moment.

my son on the other hand is harder work, after years of battling him to do the simplest of tasks I thought enough is enough....my new approach is he doesn't get pocket money & if he wants something I'll pay him to do a job for me to my standard or he'll go and help out at his grandparents. If he moans about lack of cash I just say very calmly ~ it's in your hands.

When me and my brothers were kids our mother was like Mrs Bucket. We weren't allowed to get dirty.

We loved her to bits, but it was hell in our house
