"S is normally sports mode but in that car it probably stands for slug mode ![]() It is very sluggish compared to my old manual Nissan Micra. It seems to take ages to make up its mind to move.

"I have been given an automatic Ford Fiesta as a courtesy car. I need a bit of stupid, keep it simple help here. What does S mean on the gear stick? Is there a way of turning the lights off? Thank you." The lights always come on when the car is started, they have daylight settings. If it has an A setting everything is automatic and you never need think about them - if it's a new Fiesta. Mine's very quick off the blocks but it's a 125PS turbo model, I love it to bits!

"When I saw the title and before I looked at this thread. I thought Licketysplits was after advice on choosing between a Robin Reliant and a Bubble Car." I'd choose the Bubble Car - I'd look good in one of those in red.
