"Anyone with Rosemary growing in the garden .BEWARE black ladybird type creatures have just killed a 6 year old well established rosemary bush ![]() eeks! Few years back i lost a rosemary. Had to look up the bug that ate it... Think it was called a harlequin beetle ( Very unusual with a multi coloured back) and very hungry! ... Thank you! Will keep an eye out for this black one, need protect my bush! ![]() ![]() | |||

"Green fly are killing my rose bushes ![]() ![]() spray the roses with a systemic insecticide thou we had some house sparrows on ours this morning looking for aphids but never take many if they were there yes but other wise you don,t really have much choice aphids are a real menace sap sucking monsters, the sprays should be bird friendly I use one on my guilder rose for black flie spray before they get on I forgot last year and they spread all over but the shrub came back slowly.... ![]() | |||

"Green fly are killing my rose bushes ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now thinking about It lavender does have these qualitys I wonder if its in the oils lavendar has I know if you have somw marigolds they are good planted alongside other plants as They give out pyrethrum which white fly don,t like i grew some basil plants a year or 2 back And they got hit by whitefly wish i had some french marigolds alongside never Mind still enjoyed some basil to cook with..... ![]() | |||

"probably slugs as the LOVE i mean love hostas..... if its possible place a jam jar with 2 inches of beer in it next to your hostas sunk into the ground so it doesn't fall over and check it every morning as you should find dead or dying d*unk slugs in it and it attracts them away from your plants.... slugs have just started breeding and are ravenous eaters if its them them a few slug pellets sprinkled under the leaves will do the trick" its not slugs they cant get to them because I put eggshells around the base and pebbles. | |||

" egg shells and pebbles deter. just try the beer trap and see what you get. go out at dusk and see what you can see as thats normally when the little buggers come out what evers eating them | |||

Or any tree from seed for that matter..." any tree can be bonsai'd its all about trimming the tap root as the tree grows so you can grow whatever you like that you can get to germinate. or find a small sapling lift it and trim 50% of the tap root off this year and then do the same next year and so on | |||

But if your like me you not seen a frost yet all winter/spring so i still have a summer hanging basket alive... you need to give them a feed about now fish blood and bone around the roots just knocked into the soil | |||
