East Lincs

It all depends on what species you are targeting, but spam and cheese both tend to get results.

Well first of all i did not name call, Secondly its not the fish oil its the additives that build up in the fishes system that eventually kill them, As you said you dont Fish and read it somewhere and it was very popular at one point.

I do appologise,I thought the "gimp" was aimed at me..... So it was used at one point,as I said. Most things are good or bad for you depending who you listen to

If the aim is to catch em and eat em surely they arent going to consume much. Surely catching em with any bait,a hook in the mouth etc isnt conjusive for the fishes health, followed up with smashing its head in when its been dragged out of the water lol

I love eating fish, have fun fishing whatever bait you use

OP...

Of course you can always cheat and soak your bait in a few drops of aniseed oil...

I hear the fish go wild for the stuff.

Your right on all points, But most coarse ..Lake or River..fish are returned alive and nowadays a massive amount of bait is thrown into the water where it supposedly breaks down, the problem is fish oil will disperse leaving non degradable additives to build up.

Im glad you agree, the OP never said where he was fishing.

I was put fishing by my dad,he took me night fishing when I was young,I just wanted to sleep,he kept slapping my head and saying wake up watch your float ggggrrrrr

Anyway he was the bailif and used to fish,we quite often ate what he caught,I can just remember pikes soaking in a bucket to remove the clayey taste I think,I cant remba what they tasted like

kettering

I use pastry mix flour and smelly cheese with a bright food colour to stalk for big chub in little rivers.

Amazing what you can pull out of a stream if your looking right !

Cardiff

Add tuna oil to your groundbait mix or dip bread in it if your floating on the top. It will make the water go flat and you'll see the bread floating better
