Currently re reading robin Hobbs trilogy the liveship traders on kindle.

Was bought the kindle for Christmas 2 years ago. Thought it was just another toy so it gathered dust for 4 months until I came across it again and started fiddling with it

I haven't picked up a paper book since, much less bought one!

The Violent Century by Lavie Tidhar; a new, much darker take on superheroes.

I'm fairly convinced that it would make the basis for a good screenplay.

I'm also going to put Mira Grant's FEED, DEADLINE and BLACKOUT trilogy up as suitable vehicles for transition to the big screen.

Extraordinarily well researched tales of zombies, politics, corruption and with enough medical, scientific and ballistic information to make the stories stand out from the run of the mill zombie tale; these are in the vanguard and there are sufficient twists in the plot to have you re-read pages as you will have finished a section thinking 'WTF happened'.

Start reading FEED and I guarantee that you will have gone back to buy the second and third novels before you have read more than a quarter of the book.

Watching the English - Kate Fox.

Hilarious all about the hidden rules of British behaviour.. The book starts with her doing an experiment of bumping into everyone in the street and how we say sorry when its not our fault - Round buying in pubs - supermarket snobbery

Might start reading Temple again by Matthew Reilly.

Pretty cool moment reading the bit when an M1 Abrahms tank plummets to earth sans parachute with a Earth destroying bomb inside and the hero inside the tank has 30 seconds to disarm it and survive ground impact.

Preposterous stuff but a cracking read nonetheless.

I agree, I love Mathew Reilly, I've got his new historical novel, Tournament to read next...currently on Spellbound by Kelley Armstrong (a series called Women of the Otherworld...vampires, werewolves, necormancers, witches, sorcerers and many other supernatural species)

If you like Reacher and Elvis Cole, then may I suggest the Myron Bolitar series of books by Harlen Coben...excellent protagonist, sociopathic but sexy sidekick and there's even a TV assassin - ex Mossad agent who keeps a stiletto in his stiletto

I loved the reacher books and elvis cole,but I love Myron Bolitar,sad cos I finished them all but iv just read a stand alone novel of Harlan Cobens called six years,good but I kept waiting for Myron to turn up haha

I read the first one and the writing style was so awful I struggled not to put it in the bin after the first few chapters. Some phrases are seriously, massively overused.

I liked the character and the style but the repetitive language was unbearable.

I have the first 15 of them as e-books but can't bring myself to start the second one.

Kelley Armstrong is one of my favourite authors at the moment. I loved the Women of the Otherworld series.

I liked her Nadia Stafford books too.

That series was brilliant until around Obsidian Butterfly and then she just lost the plot. She got far too full of herself and was effectively writing porn with no story.

I've not read any of them since Incubus Dreams.

It's a fantastic book. I haven't read it in about fifteen years though; I may put it on the 'read again' pile once I've worked my way through the rest of Iain M Banks (since he died I've been reading them all in order of publication).

The Girl in the Painted Caravan, Memories of a Romany Childhood, Eva Petulengro.

My dad loaned me a handful of similar book, said they'd give me a glimpse of his and my grandparents childhoods. Great read so far, I'm looking forward to reading the others!

There's a few Martina Cole novels I'd be interested to see adapted for screen.
