"Have your cake and eat it. Why would you buy a cake and nit eat it. Totally illogical" I think the saying is "You can't have your cake and eat it", meaning you can't have it both ways

Totally illogical I think the saying is "You can't have your cake and eat it", meaning you can't have it both ways " Hang on, you can only eat a cake through your mouth so by definition of above, what would be the other way??

"When people say -" there's no point beating round the bush ! "Where does that expression come from ? " It comes from getting the birds out of the bush so that the shooters could "cut to the chase" and get on with killing the birds. Beating around the bush is pointless unless you cut to the chase.

" Cut to the chase is not a sports saying, it's from the early days of film making. Beating around the bush is pointless as the game is liable to remain hidden in said bush and not be flushed out for the guns.

"When people say -" there's no point beating round the bush ! "Where does that expression come from ? " The closest timeframe I could find was "several hundred years." At least one source speculated it could have been used as early as 1520. However, there is no documented evidence to support this theory. Most historians believe that this phrase originated in England. It is possible that the phrase beat around the bush is a shortened version of an old phrase, to beat the bushes for, which meant someone was seeking something with very little effort.

"when by definition the chicken has to be dead to be sold as a portion? Why are gentlemen's clubs called that when they are really quite the opposite? What other illogical phrases have you come across? Light hearted intention! " The definition of fresh today is fridge cool and not smelling like potential arse death. Because money is no object when it comes to being treated better than you would be otherwise. My actual answer, though, is "Free Enterprise!" It's not free and there's nothing entrepreneureal about it. Scams should not be recognised by positive sounding names.
