"So, here he is, leader of the SNP, holders of 6 seats in Scotland (and seeing a reduction in his majority in his constituency at the election)and he's decided he's going to make demands on Cameron for not only more money, but for more control over how it's spent. Ignoring the fact that Holyrood was built on a swamp and was so over budget it's legendary (though, arent we all pleased they got their think pods?!), I dont think Salmond is capable of buying the fish suppers and irn-bru with any manner of success. He fights for a devolved Scotland then goes making demands on the House of Commons to fund it! I live in Scotland and for the life of me cant imagine what they think they would do if they were fully devolved...or is there something I'm mising?" united we stand .......nuff said

""he's going to make demands on Cameron for not only more money, but for more control over how it's spent." Of course he is. And he knows full weel that he isnt going to get it, Cameron will tell him where to go. This plays perfectly into Salmonds' hands as he can, once again, up the rhetoric about 'London controlled Goverment' and 'tory & lib dem' imposed cuts. This plays wonderfully to the died in the wool nationalist 'anti english/pro independence' sentiment which fuels the snp. I'm no fan of independence for various reasons, but i have to (grudgingly) acknowledge that the snp know their audience/core supporters well and are brilliant at the way they present the argument to the electorate - everyone is always on message and the message is always the same 'this wouldnt happen in an independent scotland'." Hitler did propaganda.....

"David Cameron WILL give the Scottish Parliament stronger powers over Devolution whether Salmond asks for it or not. The Tories don't like us and that showed in their election manifest, hence nobody in Scotland voted for them except Dumfries and the borders. I had a manuscript somewhere from an Economical Development course I did in my last job showing Scotlands GDP and if spent right then Scotland would prosper on its own and not die as the biased press would like to make you think. However, that said, that does not make me a supporter of Salmond or his blinkered views as I think he is not the right person to carry it through. In fact I don't really see any party in Scotland with the political ideals strong enough to lead an independant Scotland. We are strongest within a UNITED Kingdom and like it or lump the History all 4 countries actually need the others if we plan on survving this recession. I'd still shag wee Nicola though " seriosly?? what about cathy?? or annabel??x

"...of course, Thatcher spent all Scotland's oil revenue money on paying the dole money for the millions of people that were thrown out of work as a result of her policies." blah blah blah.. Thatcher, Thatcher, Thatcher... that's going to be my standard response to any post that mentions her name. Talk about living in the past....sheesh! To my mind, the people that can get the stuff out of the ground have as much claim on oil as anyone else. Without those people it would still be buried there. *Scotland's oil money* bollocks. Scotland has had plenty of cash from Westminster to more than make up for it, plus Scotland is STILL a part of the Union and that makes it everyone's money. Until Scotland takes no cash from Westminster at all it can have no legal claim on North Sea revenues.

"Like her or loathe her. Thatcher turned an Industrial White Elephant that Scotland was becoming into a highly successful Support industry. Look at the number of call centres that sprung up all over the country . Environmentalists are always banging on about burning of fossil fuels etc killing the planet. Thatcher closed them down and made us a Greener place to live in. I could go on but I'll get off my soap box. Thatcher does get blasted in Scotland for what she did, however looking at the bigger picture her vision for a cleaner, healthier future was spot on. " i might be seeing this different to you i live in a coalfield area that was also a high manufacturing area and there is sweet fuck all job wise?? no call centres?? opencasts are main employer not very enviromentally friendly?? call centres the satanic mills of our generation loads of studies been done into them and its not looking good xx

"Point being Maggie did do some good. Albeit she did cripple huge parts of Scotland. As for North Sea Oil, this is an argument that will go on until the oil wells dry up. The people of Scotland pay over £50bn every year to Westminster. Of that we receive well over half of it back to run the country. If someone with the balls to run the country properly kept that income in Scotland then the more we would have to invest in more important issues like Health, Education, etc. Not all about oil. North Sea oil makes but a fraction of the income produced in Scotland." think of how much it could be if buckfast was made here......xx

"Argies about to invade again this time with the support of other Latin American nations " has been on the cards for a while...they had the support of the other latin countries a few months back....and also have the support of the UN in that they have agreed that sovereignty is once again a matter to be put up for negotiation between us n the argies

"What always makes me smile, is all those Scots socialists who would have Maggie in hell tomorrow, pontificating from their sofas in the lounges of their BOUGHT council houses!!!!! And then there's supposedly the best chancellor we've ever had; ehhh, who screwed up all our pensions and sold off the country's gold reserves at a fraction of their worth? And who starved the armed forces of money when they had 2 wars on their hands? It's high time Scots woke up and started thinking for themselves, instead of simply voting the way their fathers voted, who voted the way their fathers voted!! And if Blair or Brown had been in power at the time, we'd still be politely asking the Argies to leave the Falklands!! And when it comes to the unions, do you really want to return to the days when much of industry was on strike more often then they were working?? Come on, wake up and smell the roses!!!" i rent my council house actually....and dont vote as my granparents or parent did i vote of my own free mind and i would joyfully see her in hell even if it was just to scare satan.... as for unions im great believer in them if they are fightin for the rights of the WORKER xx
