Beats are just bling and bass. For the money, and if you're willing to do the research, there are better headphones on the market.

I have a set of Dre Beats earbuds and the sound quality is excellent. My car has a 1000w Bose stereo system and it could start an earthquake!

Budget I would possibly say £400 max. I really like my music so sound quality and all round. I do like my bass on the odd occasion too.

There's a search engine called Google I believe. ( but obviously never google google - it can crash the whole internet)

If you search for reviews of said headphones, it may pull up more information that the combined headphone knowledge of Fab forum dwellers.

Forget B&O they're just rebranded, overpriced Phillips stuff.

"Beyerdynamic DT or T range for the win in my opinion."

Beyerdynamic T70 are around £400.

Forget Beats and Bose and all that stuff. Get some decent cans and look smuggly at everyone else wearing their fashionable ear muffs while you listen to your favourite music.

I think for that sort of money it is always going to boil down to personal choice, the daughter bought some Beats and to me they sound the dogs £250 they where, the wife bought some for £70 and to me (i aint no expert on music) they sound just as good ( do not know what make they where but not beats.

My advice would be to go try them all out and see whats right for you. thats alot of money to spend on head phones, so they need to be right for you.

I've not tried bose but beats aren't good if you're listening to music on a train. The sound bleeds through.

Take your music device and go try some out.

Is there a bose store near you?

Go down and see what they've got. I'd guess they'll let you test the products out

The only cans for me are Stax Earspeakers. They may look like cupboards against your ears but they sound amazing - like nothing I've ever heard before.

Great Wyrley

I went out with my ipod to get some new headphones and went to a store with lots on show to try.

I was in there about 2 hours and paid no attention to the price tags.

I tested them all and narrowed it down to 3 that I liked for the sound quality.

then I compared the prices.

two of them were nearly 200 spuds.

one was 50 spuds.

I opted for the 50 quid headphones.

they were the sony mdr v55

None of my selections were beats. I thought the sound quality was really disappointing from the beats.

just to add, my old headphones were the sennheiser hd 25sp.

the sound on the sony was on par with the sennheisers

Depends what you want them for - Sennheiser HD 650 is generally considered the benchmark for affordable quality headphones and used a lot in professional studios - most of the other stuff like Dr Drip and Beetroots are just overpriced mid market bedroom quality phones with a pretty frock on

I've got Sennheiser MM450x and they sound fantastic.

Can be Bluetooth or wired.

Bought them in Amazon sale at Christmas for bargain price £148 - great buy!

Our Son has Fanny Wangs (yes they are actually called that), which he says are brilliant.

Not sure if they are any better or worse than the ones you are looking at but might be worth a look.

Seriously, do yourself a favour and buy a nice set of Beyerdynamic/AKGs and even factor a Fiio E5 into the budget if you are listening from an ipod/mobile and forget B&W/Bose/Beats etc.

Bose are excellent. I've used the IE ones for best part of ten years now. For iPod and for monitors when playing. Tried Ultimate Ears and Shure and, for me, Bose were heads above. Also discovered a compact portable speaker set, bizarrely at our last meet, that I'll be investing in soon. Sound quality is awesome.

Son used beats a few times and they're shite. Invest some cash and get Bose. You can get an IE set on eBay now for about £40 second hand.
