Actually it's one of two ways, but to make sure I do that too. I remember a few years ago. Someone was literally crying on my shoulder when I was dropping her off at her house. I refused to leave until she felt better and this was done by giving her as many hugs it took to get all the pain out. Then when that was done. I just stayed with her until I got a smile and a laugh from her.
